Yesterday I went gear shopping with the owner of the club where I Gig on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. He has another club called Ritas that caters almost exclusively to Spanish speaking patrons.
In the past he has rented my gear from me for a Puerto Rican DJ to use (The only time I ever left my gear and went home with out having to stay and supervise)
Now he is installing sound in that club. The PR DJ was suggesting to him to get 2 QSC K10s as tops....WTF? In a Spanish Club!
I took him to a local Pro Audio Store with whom I have been dealing since the early 80s. We had to go local as he wants everything up and running by Monday. The Sound company will deliver and install everything.
Anyways, for tops to start, he will be using some Bag Ends Large speakers two way 15"
For Subs, he will be using a pair of CV 18" Earthquakes for Bass. For fill in another corner of the club, he will use two smaller Bag Ends. All the Bag Ends are coming from the Club where I play, they were not being used. This saved him some bucks and he loved that.
Processing will consist of DBX 1231 EQ, DBX 2 way Electronic Crossover, DJ Mixer and Live Mixer to be chosen today, Amps QSC or Crown to be determined today. He will probably add a basic Dual CD/MP3 player but the DJ will bring his own Laptop and or Controllers.
That PR DJ will be so happy. When I played at his other club (Where this equipment is going) I only had to use two of my scoops. Now this Guy is getting two 18" Earthquakes...I am jealous.LOL
I suggested he use the Sound company to hang the speakers and install everything. I certainly do not want the liability besides which I respect other peoples domains and wouldn't want to take away bread from someone else plate.

Bag End = very high end

Canute...

Is there a Bag End processor laying around for them too??

I've always been told that you need the Bag End processing to get the most out of them, Similar to the bose controller i sold you...

If not, You may want to check into that

Thanks Brian I was going to mention it as that is why most have not used them in a DJ application cause they tested them without the special addition for processing.

I'll be at the club in an hour or so. I'll look in the back to see if there is one or several. There are about 8 other Bag End Speakers up in the ceiling.

I know Bag End subs really suck without there processor.

There subs will play down to 18hz with there processing...That's some serious, foundation rattling rumble!!

remember Ben handles Bag End also so may be of help with details or tuning the room. He installed a bunch in his last install shared on forum.
