EV ZXa3... When???

Does Electro-Voice have plans on making a powered version of the ZX3? If so, when?

... or even a 10" powered version of the ZXa1... call it the ZXa2.

As long as its performance rivals (hopefully beats) the QSC K and KW series, I'll be a buyer. I want to stay in the EV family + want a smaller solution to my ZXa5s and for me, the ZXa1s don't cut it for outside ceremonies.

Same here. Last Saturday I used 2 Zs to throw about 400 feet to a crowd of about 150. Didn't even break a sweat.

LOL... I'll have to listen to them again... at the store AND OUTSIDE. I'll play some wedding type tunes and see what vocals sound like. I came to my conclusion on them with a head-to-head comparison to the K8. I felt the K8 was a lot louder and more articulate sounding w/o limiting.

I REALLY don't want to run Danley TH-118s + EV ZXa5s + K8s... I'd rather stick with the nice looking EVs.
 
The ZX1a must have an awesome setup for the amp section, because the ZX1 while a great sounding speaker simply couldn't reach the levels I need either and when supplied with the same amount of power I send to my 10 inch speakers couldn't handle it!

But I do give that for a ceremony system they would work wonderfully and they are excellent for close range closed enviroments as well! I love the sound when paired with a 12" non-ported box sub in the studio!
 
I guess if you are looking for concert level sound at a ceremony for Christ's sake then they aren't the speakers for you..... you'd be better off with a pair of ZXA5's.

You shouldn't need any more volume then say what an acoustic stringed quartet would produce.... just simply doesn't need to be louder than that.
 
I have had neighbors ask my to turn down my music a couple times. And I was only using the zxa1's for a couple family bbq's and gathering.

My partner uses a single speaker to fill a 100 person restaurant when he sings on the weekends. Most people don't need to be rocked of their seats while eating dinner or taking vowes. But that's just a personal opinion.

I had the Sheriff call one time and tell me to turn down my DTH system once when I was testing everything before loading it up for a school gig. He heard it when he walk out of the sheriff's office 4 miles away!

I also had a cop try to shut down my system at a gig because she said it was too loud 61 DB at the street! Had to wait until there was no traffic on the street to get a reading on the meter because the cars driving down the street were louder than the music!

Had the cops called on another gig where the lady complaining was in her house 1300 feet away and the sound level was set to where you could hear conversations going on 20 feet away from the speakers when you were standing directly in front of the speaker!

Loud is in the ear of the complainer!:tribiggrin:
 
ZX YZ I had a wedding recently where I was playing buble, sinatra, Jack Johnson and the couple closest to my speakers said could I please play something more mellow LOL. I then asked them what they would like to hear. Resounding with Polka as we are European. I said so at this low level I could in fact turn it up if I were to play Polkas? Yep indeed was the resounding reply. Go figure.
