I'm not sure if this is the proper place to post but here goes.
DH and I have run a karaoke business for over 16 year during that time we have done many karaoke weddings. We DO NOT want to branch into DJing however have been looking at the possibility of becoming notaries and wedding ministers to be able to book karaoke weddings in our area(lots of people seem to want to get married on the beaches here) We have at our disposal plenty of contacts for outside services. Total cost would be about $15.000 including website. I figure 2-3 weddings should cover the costs. Could I get some input from some you who may have thought about this or implemented a similar plan

You do mean $1,500 and not $15.00 or $15,000 right??

i perform wedding ceremonies and on occasion dj the reception. It can get a little hectic, depending on the time frame you have to set up. But it is a cool thing to offer. Kind of a package deal.
 
I became a "Life Church" ordained Minister so I could officiate weddings and in 10 years I have used it a total of (0) times! Wasted that $50 plus the $45 you have to pay the state each year!:sqbiggrin:
 
They probably have issue with Santa performing unless its December. Perhaps you might gear up that option. It might supersede lack of Christmas parties.

Notary publics do more than perform wedding ceremonies. They can sign important papers, notarize wills etc.

People can contact you for notary services at the oddest times. My father was a notary. More than once he got a call outside business hours to handle some issue or other. :D

There's no harm in trying. However, I'd recommend managing these gigs as a pair ~ one to do the Do You Takes, the other to handle the music and equipment.
 
I was a notary in FL, and a licensed boat captain -- I could marry people on land or at sea.

Got zero call to use it for that though... Almost got one, but it fell through, and they decided not to get married at the last minute.


Becoming a notary in FL is simple, just choose the company you want to handle it, send them money, and they send you your seal and stamp, and they bond ya. Cost is under $100.

My friends would ask me to notarize all their papers though -- think I got a few 12 packs out of it... :sqerr: :sqlaugh:
 
well DH and I are now noteries(sp?) and are taking the wedding ministers class to be ordained as well. Church of Life is no longer reccoginzed but I have a freind with a "real" non-denom church. Once we are ordained we will have access to the website and be able to marry any religion. :sqbiggrin:
NP will bring in a few bucks with loan closings passed to us from freind unwilling to drive to our county and accepted Deposit for first wedding in Dec today:sqwink:
