I wanted to swap my Gigaport AG cards, but my spare one won't work on channel two (3/4). There is a red LED light on inside the unit.

I tried to use 5/6 and 7/8 for channel two, but it didn't work.

Is this barely used Gigaport shot?

Probably not.

Giga drivers are not known for their stability. Their ASIO drivers were built for XP, and don't always function properly on the audio stack in later versions of Windows. Sometimes they even flake out in XP.

Try uninstalling the drivers, and re-installing...

Make sure you use the same port.
Reconfigure the DJ Software Settings.
Do as Rick says!

Ummm...dumb techno guy here...

How do I uninstall the Gigaport's drivers?

Is that in device manager?

what ever you do make sure the item isnt plugged in and you have rebooted before uninstalling to re-install the drivers

When I suspected mine of acting stupid, just uninstalled the drivers and installed ASIO4ALL (For VDJ). Like old Red, just use the native WDM drivers.

The 1/2 jacks side is working fine, but the 3/4 ones are giving me that red LED and not working.

If only one side is working, would a reinstall of the drivers help?

Or could the Gigaport itself be bad?

I can't. In my control panel, there's only "program updates" and no just "programs". So no "features" either.

I'm running XP Rick. Were your instructions for Windows 7 users?

Can you try the Gigaport on another system since its USB ?

that would be the best way of seeing if there is anything wrong with the other ports!

Dennis, that's exactly what I did. I plugged it into my machine at work and immediately the red LED came on followed in a few seconds by an orange one right next to it.

It's now been plugged in for 10 minutes and both the red and orange LEDs are still on.

So I'm thinking this Gigaport used maybe five times is shot.

Those two LEDs indicate that the Gigaport is getting power from the USB. They do not indicate a failure of any kind.

The green LEDs are attached to the individual RCA ports and are active only when a signal is present. But all should flash briefly when plugged into a USB.

It sounds like there is a configuration issue, not a problem with the card itself.

Hmmm...what if you had a Gigaport (same model) already on a machine, but swapped it with a newer one - again same model?

Would the new one get confused and not install properly due to the prior one?

So if I get no green on ONE channel, it may indicate a problem with the playback software configuration?

What he said!
I too have a Gigaport been using it exclusively now since Jan 2006. without any problems.
If you install a newer version you need to use a different port and new install. If you no longer are going to use the original Card then do a complete uninstall then reboot and install the new one.

I think I'll just stick with my Behringers and RockIt in my backup/ceremony system.

Anyone want to buy a rarely used Gigaport AG? $60 and its yours.
