Can anyone offer up a good disco playlist? I know all the disco songs, but am curious to see what order you play them in and if anyone includes any songs that are not the "normal" disco ones. I need to cover a 1.5 hour disco night coming up soon.

The attendees are mostly folks that grew up in the disco era...so a couple of "I haven't heard that in years!" songs would be good...

Thanks!

Ok Boss, I took a quicky look around...

I was looking for the compilation MP3 mixes I already made, since I know you have all the tunes, but I already did the work. I used to do the mixes at home for disco night at the last bar I did, and just saved into large MP3 files, so I could hit play, and then hit on chicks (I used to be a slut, what can I say) :D

Anyway, I couldn't find the hard drive with the premixed sets, but I did find some of my notes I used when building them...

I usually mixed sets of about 25 minutes to do bar turnaround, but YMMV. In no particular order, but from my notepad grouped:

Born To Be Alive
Disco Inferno
Turn The Beat Around

Night On Disco Mountain
Jive Talkin'
You Sexy Thing
Do It Till You're Satisfied
Disco Lady
Love To Love Ya Baby

You Should Be Dancing
Boogie Wonderland

Ain't No Stopping Us Now
And The Beat Goes On

I have Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood circled (one of my favs), but I can't recall if I led off with that, or ended a set with it. It's a must play though, and comes in around 118 BPM. If I were to do the set over, I would probably lead off with it because of the intro, then move into Open Sesame or something similar...

If I can dig any more up, I'll post it here :)

I never could get night on Disco Mountain to keep a dancefloor going it was like auto kill even if I snuck it in with a perfect intro mix. The others always. I didnt ever play Born To Be Alive until I came to Canada and it is a must and mixes well with you Spin Me Round (not really disco)and several others.

Wow Disco I have a few mixes up on my website with Disco mixes on it. Here are my favorites:

Donna Summers - Bad Girls
Kc and The sunshine Band - Boogie Shoes
Souvenirs
Do You wanna Funk - Sylvester
I'm Ready - Kano
Romeo Juliet
Makin Music Gary's Gang
Can You Move Modern Romance
You Are A Danger Gary Low
Must be The Music Secret Weapon
How Much, How Much I Love You Love & Kisses
Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood (full length version) Santa Esmeralda
Stomp! The Brothers Johnson
Hit 'n Run Lover (Original 12" Version) Carol Jiani

And I have plenty more where that came from and no PM needed! LOL...........

Scroll to the 30th min mark for the Disco mix!

Here's another not played so much song that is pretty good: "Right Back Where We Started From" -- Maxine Nightengale

I tend to play these two songs also during Disco mix:
"I'll Take You There" - The Staple Singers (probably labled "funk" vs. "Disco")
"You Sexy Thing" - Hot Chocolate

BTW, this thread inspired an idea for Friday night at the Elks.

Just be careful how much Disco you do play during the night as I have seen many here do a Disco Theme night and by 12am the club was empty. Start off with Disco of course but mix it up during the night so the people will not get bored with too much Disco music.
