I've got a mainly Indian (Navajo) wedding this Saturday. I've never done one of these before. It's a big country listening group which is right up my alley.
Alcohol will not be served and the bride said it's a very conservative group...if the crowd is like the B&G....dancing could be a problem.

Anyway....she would like us to keep the group entertained with some sort of activity during cocktail hour and I have no idea what to do. Any suggestions? Looking at over 150 people.

THis is a great ice breaker to get folks at the tables talking as well as fill time during any lulls.

"How well do you know the bride & groom?"

Beforehand, I have the bride & groom fill out the enclosed form (so I know the answers)

At the start of the reception I give one blank sheet (see enclosed form) and a golf pencil to each table, As I visit the tables & instruct them to discuss the questions together as a table, and write down the answers that they think will match what the bride & groom have provided me.

Once they fill them out, bring them up to the DJ. I will read some of their answers towards the end of dinner....so keep it clean!

If we get at least one match per question, the bride & groom will embrace in a long romantic kiss.

This is a great interactive ice breaker for the guests to get them talking to each other at the tables. 90% of my clients request to do this.

I guess a reenactment of Custer's Last Stand wouldn't work. :sqlaugh:

On the serious side, Bill's idea is a great one. A few others:

1. Fifty-Two: You'll need several decks of cards with the jokers in. You'll also need the B&G to provide you with 10 $10 gift cards as prizes. As guests arrive have them pick a card and keep it. Once you have a good crowd, call out poker hands. The first people to match up their cards for the poker hand and get them up to you wins. Keep the cards.

I use; 1 pair, one three of a kind, and one flush.

2. Special Person: Have the B&G pick a man and a woman. They don't have to be related but they have to be in on it. Announce that there are two special people among you, a man and a woman. You have to find out who they are by asking if they are the special person. If they say they are, findout some information about them and report your findings to the DJ. The special people have to tell the truth but the other guests do not. I will tell you the winners during dinner.

When people come up to report don't tell them if they are right or not and don't tell them if somebody has one. You want to keep this going.

At dinner announce the winners. The B&G should provide a prize.

3. Who Am I?: As people arrive place a sticker with a character's name on their back. They must go around to other guiests to get clues as to who the character is and try to figure it out. Thise that do go into a drawing for prizes.

You can use Disney characters, Looney Toones characters, and so on.
