Good specs should serve youwell.

only one small hassle - its not win7 pro version :(

if your using home its restricted in a lot of ways but hey each to his own - for a work system I would rather use Pro to make sure nothing can go wrong and I have access to every inch of the operating system

maybe being a computer geek helps :)

I thought you hated Micro$oft...... especially Win7.... change of heart?:sqlaugh:

not really - what else can get installed when most laptops now have a win7 lock on the laptop and you cant install ANYTHING else on it

trust me look in the bios and thats what it reads

try and break it then you void the warrenty and anything happens to it
your stuffed

had had to replace win7 home to win7 pro of a few systems after the bios lock was discovered

here is an example screen shot

Congrats. I got my Studio XPS16 this week and used it at tonight's wedding - similar specs as your Studio 17, except mine has the i5 processor.

The backlit keyboard rocks. Getting used to a 16" screen will take time (my old laptop is a 17" HP dv9000 series).
