"You Got It"
I'm tired of this sound, the beat, the synths, and the auto-tune. Even the lyrics aren't fresh. The guy singing the hook sounds too much like Akon and the rapper sounds like Soulja Boy Tell 'Em with Flo Rida's flow.
"Like To Get Wasted"
Again with the synths - not digging it. Also, there really seems to be too much going on in the mix and the rapper's voice gets buried a lot in the track. There's not enough bass-type stuff going on. I do like the intro though, but after the first 15 seconds, I just don't like the song as a whole.
Overall, where your son is an up-and-coming artist, I would really like to hear him do something fresh. More meaningful lyrics would be a good start, but ditching the synths and looking for a hotter, newer sound would be cool. I know I'm being vague here, but I'm not a producer. I'm just speaking from the perspectives of both a DJ and a consumer. I'm not saying the lyrics are whack, I'm just saying that I'll bet he can rap about something else.
I'm sorry for such a negative review and I hope that this doesn't discourage you from posting more of your son's work. It's not that it's terrible work, I'd just like to hear something new, something that feels like it's more ahead of the game.
