At last weekend's reception, after going through my bride's request list and with about 30 minutes to go, I decided to take a chance and play a favorite slow song of mine.

The dance floor was packed packed packed. I played "The Air That I Breathe" by The Mavericks - a cover of The Hollies version.

What have you played lately that was a favorite of yours but may not have worked but did?

And no I do not feel I was being selfish. Had it bombed, after 30 seconds or so I would have switched to a more familiar ballad.

I used to have that Brickhouse song.... it was great... wonder where I put that?????

Papa, I've heard of that version but can't find it on Amazon.

Where can it be bought?

I bought it on amazon... a long time ago... if you can't find it, let me know.

I always loved the song "Little Willy" by Sweet.
but it never occurred to me to play it until one nite of boredom.
I was told to just play some good background music for a Holiday party..
no one expected anyone to dance.
I was getting some good reactions from my 70's/Classic Rock set...
when in a panic to find another song in a hurry...I grabbed "Little Willy" and threw it on.
still not sure how it would be accepted, I said, "see if you guys remember THIS little gem..."
people loved it, starting dancing, and naturally sang along.

it's been a surprise hit at many a function since then
