I know Ben sells this because, well, just look here...

I'm thinking of using this to replace my rig. It looks like it could fit 1 Rane MLM42, one Rane Mp4, 1 DAC II, 1 Gemini MPX 3 (backup), 1 RU 4 input XLR rack that Bill at ESC made for me, and 1 Furman Rack Rider with maybe some extra space. The plastic should lighten my load.

I'd like some opinions.

Ben, you'll probably be getting my order by mid week.

I'm thinking about one of them myself.Wonder how many he got. I never owned any skb cases.Does anybody got any thoughts on them?

I am looking at the same case to be honest. I have a 10x6 gator with my Q1212 amp in there. Not a light load by any means. I want to split the amp(s) and mixer/controllers. Just not sure what cases I want. That SKB I think fits what I want and I like the hard flat top. So I can stack other stuff on it when moving it.

What do you want to know?

I have in no particular order:

DJ Shuttle 8x4
GigRig 10x10
6U rolling base for GigRig
Might GigRig 14x6(x6 - located in back of case)
AV Shelf

and quite possibly a couple others including an older 12U case.

They hold up pretty well, are lightweight (for the most part) and I've been pretty happy with the products overall.

I've had a case that's very similar to this one, but it's 10x6 and it has a soft cover. I've had it over 5 years and it's help up very nicely. It has a PLX amp, mixer, CD player & power conditioner and has handled all of that with no problem. I'm just interested in this new model to have the hard covers and just to get a new case since the old one does have some wear from being 5 years old.

Looking at it what can this be stacked on..... 10x4 is mearly big enough for mixers and some processing gear below maybe a cd deck but that's about it. You'd still need a separate rack for amps.

Unless you use powerd speakers. look at what I will be putting in mine at the top of this thread.

That is what I am trying to figure out. What cases can I stack the R104 on top of and it still be stable. I know some of the SKB cases interlock to create a stable base.

If I can't find anything I will probably get a 8u rolling amp rack, so I can prepare for the larger system I am going to be buying.

the only issues I've ever had (like many others) were the latches being cheap.
but it doesn't seem like this unit uses those particular latches!

That's all I needed to know. :sqwink:
Make sure you skirt that case.

There is something unattractively utilitarian about those plastic cases.

SKB cases are typically well built, the few I owned/used served me well, but they are not particularly attractive, from a non-gear geek perspective...at least that is what this gear geek was told.

P.S. The latches/retaining clips were the main areas of failure in my experience as well.

My one question is this -

Does that new 10/4 SKB case allow for the deeper configuration of something like a Denon HD2500?

In my current SKB 8x4 shuttle, the top space on the vertical is useless b/c the denon is so deep - So I only get 3 vertical spaces - one for my Furman AR-15 voltage regulator & the other 2 for my CD drawers.

Oh, & I'll be skirting mine...
:sqwink:

Make it a kilt. You'd look ridiculous in a skirt.

though I prefer the look of a flight case and run a Odyssey case I will also skirt mine with a custom fit Velvet wrap at most weddings and any other event leave it naked.

Ben, sorry but I borrowed the following from the description of this case your site since I didn't see it on SKB's;

Rack depth is listed at 6" and that is referencing the top of the rail on the slant portion of the case. At the bottom of the rail, the depth is 3.75". If nothing is mounted in the 4 spaces on the front, then the actual depth at top of the slant rail would actually be 13.5". After the first 3" from the bottom of the slant rail (and with nothing mounted in the 4 spaces on the front), the depth is 11.75". Product weight is without the optional 1SKB-AV8. The 1SKB-AV8 weighs 6 pounds.

I have an idea that will enable ANY 4 space vertical to be utilized with the HD2500.

The good things is I have all this time to think; the bad is - I can't physically do anything about it. Give me some time to "get on my feet" and I'll show you how.

I was doing a search on this case and look what popped up on the first Google page.

Considering 2 of these to make my set up more uniform between main rig and ceremony/backup system. Unless I can find 2 Shuttles cheap somewhere. Or 1 Shuttle and 1 Capsule.
