Weddings Bye Bye CD's

So as I organized the equipment tonight as the snow falls, I realize I did not pull a single CD from my library all year. So its time to put the back in the "vault" (also known as the space under my stairs). I finally made the leap to all computer last year and still carried around an emergency case of CD's all year.

With age comes wisdom....

Have never been cd based jumped from vinyl straight to computer. A VDJ user since version 3.xx
My backup is my trusty ipod.

Thanks, Joe.

With age also comes technological advances. PC DJing is no longer the gambit it was in the early days. Hardware and software have improved in quality and reliability. The cost and risk have come way down. :)

haven't used cd's in years.

But, I hope you have a back up plan.

Mine is extra computers, denon hd2500 and a pacemaker.

and a pacemaker.

That's just in case a pretty young bridesmaid decides to take a likin' to his mug. :sqlaugh: :sqwink:

Been computer based since '07 and carried along all my discs until recently when I got my second lappy to run lighting and as a backup to the main sound system. I still carry a variety of 'Best of' discs that I can play in my players until I'd have the backup lappy up and running.

Certainly don't miss those big heavy cases!

I have three laptops at every gig. I use the "main" one, my wife uses the second one on her side of the booth and keeps a few songs loaded and ready to play if the main one starts to crap out. The third one is used for monograms and such and can also be used if my wife's lappy took a nose dive.

I still only have one digital player...
so I still use my CD's as a backup, and still have the CD player in my rack.
I still like to make a CD of all the important songs for the evening.
of course, I leave the huge CD cases at home, I just bring one book of the Platinum CD series, which has more than enough songs to cover me in an emergency.
I know how ya feel, though. I lugged those CD cases to every gig, for several months after I went digital. It was a big, emotional step to leave them at home!

Hmmmmm....found that djmaine.com apparently takes care of or owns the forum.

Jim Casey. ??? Anyone know him?

Jim is a member here. He doesn't post often. I've known Jim online for several years.

Thanks Fred!

I did recieve a call from Jim after sending him an email. He tells me because of a confidentially clause, he can't tell me anything about the site, but not to worry that there is nothing negative from the hits coming from www.ftdj3.com/infocenter so I guess I have to take his word for it. It certainly makes me wonder what interest they have of my site.

MMMM Joe you know you can read that email clear as a bell?

I went computer based in '99 and haven't looked back. I carried the discs for a long time after due to reliability issues but knock on wood I never had a major problem back then.

Once I discovered Win 2k and beyond I slowly weined myself off the discs

I went PC for over a year, then went back to discs.....:sqwink:

Whatever floats your boat.......

Thanks Fred!

I just left said forum a few days ago. I'm not in the shroud of secrecy anymore.
