What should a LOGO include?

I was just wondering. What do you consider ESSENTIAL information for your logo?

What do you mean???

The only thing that is Essential is something that is memorable.... like the McDonal's double Arches are, but with the exception of a marketing blitz that would ingrain some symbology such as that for your use... I would say without a doubt your company name or some form of it....

I think it would depend on who is your market...that will determine what you need in your logo.

keep it simple, stupid.

the name, obviously
easy to read
colorful but not too many colors
should be able to figure out what the logo represents within a few seconds
don't try to do too much in a small space

remember, it's like a billboard
gotta get the point across right away

$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Budget to pay the Graphic Artist. Make sure you pay him/her well! Just like Djs they gotta live too yer know! :sqwink:

All logos should contain the words.... "Designed by Hank Davidson"

Hank has made me some logos I really love, but he didn't make this one.... not everybody's cup of tea, but I absolutely love it... www.YourPhillyDJ.com

I took that header and made it to my business card... not exactly a "logo" per se, but it is in all of my marketing materials.

In a logo name, I like:

1.) A branded name
2.) A descriptive element of the service
3.) An action/unique wording

I also like:

logos with 3 efficient words or less
slogans with 5 efficient words or less
company names that are a total of 15 characters or less (shorter URL length)

You can't always accomplish this, but IMO it is important to try.
