Just had a tearful bride cancel

for this coming weekend. Said the wedding was off. I wished her well and she said she'll be calling again "If I ever do get married". Oh well, guess it's a good week to do all that re-config work for switching to DMX control on lighting.

Sorry to hear, but the OP leaves out some information for the curious...

Did she say WHY the wedding was off?

Did you verify this with the hall to see if this was on the up & up?

What does your contract say about this?

I hear you. Yes, I'll be verifying with the venue today but the biggest clue she wasn't scamming.......she didn't ask for a refund on her deposit. As for my contract, obviously the deposit is non-refundable, if the client cancels. I could press for the balance but won't. As for the cancelled date, honestly, it's a relief. This one was shaping up to be a major PITA. Ceremony and Reception, and they were on 2 floors, the upper over-looking the lower. I was not looking forward to schleping gear upstairs.

I do hope she carries thru and calls again, when she does get married. Nice girl and I'll be happy to work with her again.

lol I have had that happen but after I get to the reception
the father of the bride comes up to me and tells me the groom never showed up
so its all off

we packed up and went home again
