Making your own mixes and remixes like the big guys advice...

Gang -

I would like to think anything could be mixed w/o fancy intro/outros.

Well, there are a few tracks that could use help - and Get Down Tonight is one.

What is a good lead in or better yet where is a good point?

If not, would I be better of w/ a remix service version?

I figure during the winter months I could practice taking irrelevant tracks and making logical sets.

Not just random tracks but mixing some classic rock, motown, disco and todays' cRap in a logical, yet crowd pleasing manner.

I heard a remix version of the KC song...
they added the basic drum beat over that dumb ass intro.
don't think it's available
pretty sure it was a local guy's own remix

personally if I play that song
I cue it up to a few seconds before the drums kick in
and fade it up under the current song

if the current song ends cold
I'll find something to say and talk over it

as for remix "services"...I dont see the point in paying for remixes
I usually edit my own.

Well, I was piddling last nite and made a decent mix. Took a loop in the middle and pasted just before 'Now Everybody...".

Just using Audacity and exported to WAV > FLAC.

Sounds like other nice evening projects on cold winter nights.

using acid pro you can do remixes with

at work (making radio commercials) and at home
I use Cool Edit Pro (now known as Adobe Audition)
it's quite easy to learn and isn't that expensive
(in comparison)
I can edit length, remove offensive words, and re-work intros and outros
even adjust the speed and pitch.

It has a beat matching program in it too!
