Need help with Tag & Rename - trying to replace "_"

I keep counting to ten with each step of this stupid process that I'm going through just to get my tags right so I can then import them into the new Karma karaoke program....apparantly if you use an underscore in your mp3 tags...like I have for years, they will not appear in the right columns.

So I'm SURE there is a way to do this in Tag & Rename and someone tried to help me on another board but when I did it, my artist/title columns got all screwed up and the underscores were still there. Cripes! I'm ready to pull my hair out. If anyone is familiar how to do this (or even using Media Monkey which I didn't see how to do this at all there) then let me know...I'd love to talk on the phone so I can get this done right and I'll make the call to you....does that save $ anymore?

I use a program called STAMP ID3 tag editor
I believe it has a way that you can do MASS corrections...
but my tags are so messed up I cannot use it.
so yeah, you gotta go thru and change them one by one.

but it's free and it's simple to use.
(of course, be prepared to bore yourself to tears if you have to fix a lot of tags)

Replace _ with %20 for a space. %20 is unicode for space. Try it on a few files first to see if it works.

For what it's worth I use EasyTag (http://sourceforge.net/projects/easytag/files/easytag (gtk 2)/2.1/) for my MP3 it has build in scanner options to replace all spaces, underscores, etc.

I think I got him going with MP3Tag.... it can read his tags and rename the files accordingly.... when I got off the phone with him he had successfuly converted 7 test files and should be letting his computer do the rest as he sleeps.

I use MP3Tag the Universal tag and file renamer....

Super easy to use no complicated command strings..... as long as your tags are good.... it will read them and rename your file.... or it can work in the reverse it can read the file name and tag your files.... and just like programs such as Media Monkey it can look up tags for you too.

In tag & rename, if the tags appear correctly and you have underscores in the file name, you select the files with the underscores and then you go to multiple track rename and select change file name. Once you do this and rename the files the underscores should be gone.

If I'm not mistaken, T&R has an option to remove underscores in there somewhere (I don't have a current copy loaded at the moment)...

It's probably in the manual though

Yes Rob! Thank you! I hope you saw the "thank you" in the Karma 10 thread...Rob turned me on to MP3Tag and it was super easy and worked perfect for what I needed it to do. MP3's look great in Karma, and I'll be trying it tonight!
