...a crowd of mostly guys. My wife and I will be doing a company event coming up with about 250 employees...the majority being guys. It's a country/rock night. Have you ever had this? Of course I'm not expecting alot of dancing....actually I'm not sure what to expect.

Done plenty -- that's my specialty (used to do lots of TT bars, and rock and country bars).

Mostly guy crowd.

Don't expect any dancing (unless Fuzz and crew are there -- just bustin' on ya Fuzz) :sqlaugh:

Honestly, it's an easy crowd I've found, unless you treat it as a regular gig. Don't look at the dance floor, look at the foot and finger tapping.

Play songs that have good roots rhythm, yet changeups.

Play some Fall of the Peacemaker, some McCartney/Wings, some Toby, some Kenny.

Watch the feet -- that's the key to that sort of crowd :)

Yes... I've experienced that - best man at a wedding saw me and hired me to do his police academy grad class. It was a room full of chest-thumping 20-30somethings having a great time - raised glasses and belting out the lyrics. Often a very empty dance floor (I took it personal) but all were having a great time. I dropped a few Law & Order/COPS sound bytes during speeches & @ the end the new cop/best man said they all had fun & that's just they way the boys roll. He tipped well and his buddy booked me for HIS wedding.

The toe-tapping/sing along thing is great advice from Soft Jock

dont get into any arguments with the drunk or tipsy men, they will want to come on to any female.your wife will be there, right? be careful.

Update on this event...

It ended up being a really good event. We had the crowd dancing for the last 1 1/2 hours and they wanted us to stay longer but the venue couldn't do it. Thanks to all who gave me suggestions!

Country Guys Like Real Country Songs. Make sure that somewhere in there you include Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, Willie Nelson and George Jones. :sqwink:

This event was this past Tuesday. Alot of the folks actually didn't like country, but it was themed by the event planning company who put this on. We ended up switching into classic rock and 80's music. They were a huge hit!
