Someone asked in another thread ( not about corporate events ) how to get corporate events, so I thought I would start a thread.... I have a ton of ideas as I used to do them a lot... but that was in the early 90's.... Figured I would let you guys who do them now have a crack at it first.

But let me start with the most simple and basic one.....

Ask anybody you know who might be in charge of these on the corporate side. Even if they aren't, maybe they can point you to is.

BTW, my coolest one was for Wella Balsam... a 2 day event with 3000 women and about 300 guys in attendance.

Some will say this is a waste of time and money, but joining a chamber of commerce can help. The hardest part - IMO - in getting corporate events, is breaking the barrier. So, put yourself in a place where you can meet people who need your skills and gear. Then, when you get that first event, do your best to knock it out of the park.

I have never done a corporate event that had a DJ. But usually they are organized by someones administrative assistant or something like that.

The Chamber of Commerce (Mentioned above) is a good avenue but the best path to Corporate Gigs lies within the Entertainment Agencies. You get more $$$$$$ net!

When you've done a corporate gig be sure to follow up with the person you now know is responsible for future shows by thanking them AND reminding them that you also do a Memorial Day show, Halloween show, Christmas show, etc., etc.

In other words don't be shy about asking for more work from the same clients.

Repeat corporate business is where it's at.

Joining isn't enough you have to attend the mixers and events to get known.

I joined our local chamber last year. It cost $120.00 and I picked up 2 gigs so far with very little marketing to the chamber. I also had to turn down a 2 day street festival sponsored by the chamber as everyone and everything we had was booked out that weekend.

Our Chamber will allow you to send out one free email a year through thier system and as many as you want for a small fee.
