Due to my wardrobe malfunction, I didn't have a lot of time to capture pics. I was able to shoot a couple quick shots of the setup for 08/29/09....

Let the critiques begin! :sqembarrassed::sqrolleyes::sqwink:

Wonderful looking setup! Everything neat, and clean! I bet you have a very bright dance floor with all those par cans!

Just wondering if your gigs turn out like mine do, where everyone wants to come behind the booth to talk to me, didn't know if anyone has almost tripped on your stands? That would be my only concern- I have to strategically place mine so the drunks don't fall all over them! LOL

Thanks, my earlier efforts were very messy and I shudder at how bad they looked. I'm making progress, slowly but surely but still think there is always room for improvement.

Good point! Normally everything is a little bit tighter due to space concerns. I had some room to spread out, so I thought I'd take advantage of the wide open spaces...

I really like putting the Chauvet 4 bars side by side like that as it really seems to have a much better and brighter wash. I've just been running them on sound mode.

The Weidamark par cans are programmed.

Kirb, it looks good. This is not a critique only a preference. I would have moved the speakers as far apart as I could. Are those Eliminators?

Yup, Eliminators and EV powered, all from NLFX.....:)

The speakers are 8' apart. How far would you have gone with them? And if I did spread them out more, what would I hide behind?

I've got my ears on and ready to get info. to help me improve in anyway that I can. :)

If I could have moved them at least 30ft apart I would. Based on your pic, I see that you did not have the luxury of so doing. Maybe over to the wall would have been better. The table looked clean enough that you won't have to worry about "hiding".

By having a wider spread your coverage for each area left and right would be less intense on the ears and more fill in the room. I have used that same speaker setup (Not mine) in a club before so I know they are powerful speakers. Hey, if they worked well for you that is all that matters. I always manage to get 30-50 feet as a minimum but thats me.

Thanks Brother Ruben! :)

Hard question there, Mr. Ruben. The Weidamarks are very bright, but heavy and bulky in size. The 4 Bars are not quite as bright, but the units are very portable.

The sound active mode for the Chauvet is way better than the Weidamarks IMO. I'd like to check out the Chauvet Rain 56s and maybe add those to the arsenal.

Damn, I'm lucky to have this much room.....Most of the venues put us in the broom closet!

If they had put me in the middle of the dance floor (it went from wall to wall), instead of the corner..we could have spread 'em out more.

Suggestion for the tripod stands...I purchased some glow skirts from Ben. Even though we're only down to our lighting tripod, we wrap it with the glow skirt and set an uplight underneath it. It not only gives off a great glow (which you can match to the one of the colors of the wedding), but it also keeps people from tripping over the stand legs because they can actually see them.

Thats the problem right there.

I am not beating up on you here.
I would love to see a diagram of the floor/dance/seating setup. Are you saying the dance floor went from wall to wall but they put you in one corner? I am trying to understand. In other words, with you facing out to the audience, did the dance floor go all the way to your far left along that wall?

Hmmm, not familiar with a "glow" skirt....Got any pics?

Thanks..

Nah, I know that. You're offering advice...it's all cool. :)

Room was actually 2 conference rooms opened up so it was a very long, long rectangle, with the length of the room running East/West. We were in the Northwest corner and the dance floor was on the West (short) side of the room and went from the North wall to the South.

Don't know if that helps or not... :sqlaugh::sqlaugh::sqlaugh:

So in other words you could have been placed in the middle along one wall with a left and right corner on each side of you, correct?

Yes. That's where I would have put myself...if it had been up to me. I had to go with where the venue and client had me on the their floor plan. :sqwink:

looks clean,,, but if you are wanting WWID,, to me it doesn't look "balanced"

I would put one 4 Bar behind or by each speaker stack and the Weids, right behind me..

I would get "O" clamps for the other two lights, the VUE and Scanner and put one one each 4 Bar below the pars...

OR hang the Weids on top of the cross bar and hang the VUE and scanner under them...

Balance.....

OK. Bro I understand. If you are interested in learning how to overcome that problem to be able to get the placement YOU want instead of what is given to you, PM me and I'll share with you. It works every time for me. I don't want to take up your thread anymore.

Lookin' sweet, Brother Kirb. I like. :)

It's refreshing to see photos here of a real FOH system for a change. ;)

Good stuff, Mr. King o'the fishies... :notworthy: :notworthy:

Normally, I try to go for the balanced look and do darn near what you're saying. :) I just thought I'd play around with something different this time. :sqwink: Just to "experiment"...

I'm still in the process of deciding which lighting stands/truss combo that I want to get to replace the aging el-cheapo stands that I have now.

Gracias for the input.. :)

I'm surprised that no one has said...."lose" the cd cases...:sqlaugh::rofl:
