Liability Insurance... What Do You Pay?

I may be in the market for new liability insurance.... currently I pay $175 plus a $20 membership fee per year.

I want to add equipment insurance as well as the General Liability... so...

Who's your carrier and what kind of premiums are you seeing?

$125/ year for 2 mill liability and 4k in gear coverage.....Only in Canada

My GL does it on a per-job basis, they actually hate the DJ part. But the videography & installations is on annual gross returns (go figure).

Bill, could you please elaborate on your ASCAP and BMI licensing?
What does it cost?
Where do you apply for it?
What does it cover?
Is it necessary?

It has always been my understanding, or, misunderstanding, that it is the venue's responsibility to acquire and maintain such lienses.

I pay about 300 per year for my 2 mil liablity insurance and gear insurance through WEDJ. I believe deductible is 500 dollars for the gear.

I use a 1 mil policy that covers four sytems, just over $600 per year through Marine!

Not a great policy but it is good enough for what I do,

The problem is it is liability only and offers no coverage for my equipment. Equipment is under a seperate policy and cost another $400 per year! What i dislike about the equipment policy is that it requires me to list additions and sutractions from my equipment list before the coverage is effective, which means if I make a new purchase I have to send in the information before it is covered, instead of making changes at each renewal! It is just a pain and an incovience to do it this way and I am sure there is coverage available that will cover a new purchase without jumping through the hoops before hand.

Steve - I would guess that these are "floaters" which is why the insurer requires a list. You are getting stated limit coverage; likely all risk...any thing is covered (drop it off a truck for instance)

Wedj's underwriter... currently with just GL but looking to add gear coverage... with two Bose systems the cost to replace would kill me if God forbid something happened.

I was recently asked for the very first time by a client if I carried insurance... the answer was yes but, I started to think, "what about my gear".
