Due to a case of pneumonia, I was unable to attend the A.C. Expo.

One item I wanted to purchase was a few new tuxedo vests - nothing outlandish.

Does anyone who attended have a vendor name if they were being sold there?

They usually have good prices at the Expo.

Didn't go to the expo, but I have bought several from eBay.

If it's the same one that is usually is at Mobile Beat, I can get you the info later today.

My wife has a friend who is a seamstress and I had her make me two... they are pretty easy.... The hard part is finding the material you like... but if you want something unique, maybe ask around to see if someone you know sews...

Hired Power, I believe the normal clothing vendor at the Expo is out of N.Y.

Chuck, as I was writing this post, I thought of that picture with that vest - hence the "outlandish" remark.

I'd love to be able to pull off that style, but my standard attire is a nice slightly colored dress shirt - light blue, lavender, pink, etc. - matched with a fairly plain black vest and a very colorful Gerry Garcia tie.

But I am considering the shine dome sported by you and Cap. After chemo treatments, my hair is not what it used to be - a little thinner. So I may just say WTF and go for it. I shaved it all off during treatment and my wife said I had a fairly normal shaped head - able to pull off the look.

And now, back to your regularly schedule post...

There were no tuxedo vendors at the DJ Times Expo this year. A few years ago, American Commodore Tuxedo from Ohio was the company who exhibited there, although I also remember another vendor with a selection that appeared to have fallen off of a truck.

Personally, I make friends with the guys at the local tux shops and get what I need there. They've usually got at least two dozen of each style and color, and if they don't give them away (or sell them really cheap) they'll end up sticking them in storage forever.

why buy from someone who had to PAY to be in an expo?
your local tuxedo shop probably has a boatload of slightly used ones
that they'll sell to you for a fraction of the original price!
(and all the accessories to go with it)

I know cause I prefer vests to cumberbunds myself

What has already been said...check out your local shop. I have one near me that usually has a great used selection, not too worn out, still in fashion, and in my size.

The vest vendors at AC were dirt-cheap. We picked up a very nice vest at the expo for $15.00 when we were there. I still use it. :)
