Would it be "wrong" to play Dueling Banjos at a kids party?

No, seriously.... I think it would be fine. Here is what happened today. I had 4 kids in my car and they all heard it for the 1st time ever, today.

They all liked it and asked me to play it again.

But I am wondering, in today's PC world, if I played that at a kids party, whether some parents would get upset.

DB is a popular song for its composition, not necessarily from its iconic status from Deliverance. Were I to play it, I would not expect anyone to even raise an eyebrow.

Kids would definitely not associate the music to the movie, and hopefully have not seen the movie.

If the parents associate that song with Deliverance in a negative way, that is their baggage, LOL.

When I used to watch that movie, I would tell my friends that the inbred boy on the banjo was a young Eddie Van Halen, then watch them squint and analyze him. LOL!

Even in the movie the song wasn't associated with anyone getting butt banged or slapping the bacon. It just a fun song. Play it if they like it.

In all honesty, the song title is misleading. It's a guitar and banjo.

That song is on my to do list for Christmas lights sequencing (computerized animated Christmas display). It will be played and broadcast to the masses as a holiday song! Similar to this.

I would have to agree with Harryoke, I highly doubt any kid would have seen that movie. I see no reason not to play it, it is a fun song!
