Lately as a marketing tool I've been making short promo video's of our receptions and sending them to the venue manager the week after the event. Hopefully they will show future brides how good their venue can look with us as their DJ company and secure higher fee's for us down the road with add on's.

Here's our 6/20/09 video. A couple more on the way.

Wow...what Jon said...brilliant idea.

The music was "Love generation" by Bob Sinclair and was the bride and grooms intro song. Thought I'd keep it real :sqwink: I also sent it to the bride and groom who watched it while sippin Corona in Mexico - they loved it!

I really liked the video but my girl said what f___ are you listening to and lets face it the women make the decisions just my 2 cents

Good knardini...did you use Strat for that?

I really like the larger setup. That venue was huge. This is something I've been dreaming of doing. The only thing stopping me is about $1500 for a Nikon D90 and some goodies. I'm dreaming of streaming that stuff in HD on Vimeo for potential brides and venue owners.

very nice setup!
and I love the idea of promoting YOURSELF with the venue...

if I can be a little critical...
I thought the music was different, and I understand it was the B/G's intro song, but any potential customer may not know or understand

also, if you're gonna quote the bride and/or groom
I would use their real names in the graphics.

"BRIDE" just seems odd...

I hear what you are saying about the song...sort of - I actually like the track and why I chose it. I'm ALL about being as far away from your typical DJ company as possible. I'll let the other 99% of company's in the area choose "Celebration" for thier video's all day

I'm also about pumping these out in about 30 minutes. I don't DJ full time and have a big family so I want to get these out quick and move onto the next one. I'll be posting a couple more in a minute....wait till you hear the songs I chose for those :sqwink:

JT - I took this video with my little hand held Sony mini DV and edited with moviemaker, real quick I might add.

I also chose "bride" and "groom" because I put this on youtube and wasn't sure about using their names...may not be a reason to worry? Thanks for the suggestions.

Hey Kris, great setup! How many people have you had to hire to set this up?
I love Bob Sinclair, try also RIO and September. Superb dance music!

YES! Finally some props on the song :sqlaugh:

I only need one extra guy along for these bigger reception set ups. Set up is about 3 hours...tear down 1.5.

I'll check out those other Sinclair songs for sure.

OK I liked it, but the beginning was to long for the length of video on just the lighting. Shorten that. The music I liked but it kinda got stuck in my head....

This video is actually more about the lighting and the set up than it is about the event. I'm only using these to show off to the venue manager and potential brides to help them pick the type of set up they want. And, these are not supposed to be nicely edited video's...I don't spend any time on them at all. It's just a quick thing I do the day after an event to just get more buzz out there.

I'm glad the music got stuck in your head...that's a good sign:sqwink:

Nice, and that venue is HUGE, how tall are those ceilings?

Yeah the venue is a huge pyramid. The top is probably about 80-100 feet tall, so it's a massive place. It has a 100' sq. ft dance floor in it and a massive stage. They actually host some medium sized concerts there so EVERY plug (not outlet, or pair of plugs) but EVERY plug up there was a seperate 20 Amp circuit!!!! I had 12 seperate 20 Amp circuits to choose from...it was awesome! For audio we used four JBL SRX dual 15's and two SRX dual 18's...it sounded really nice.
