We got rid of our home phone 3 years ago.

Go to the farmers market every couple of weeks.

Clip coupons and buy things on sale.

I don't pay full price for anything. Got my 42" full HD TV for $650 and our brand new, 2009 model, full sized, front loading, stackable, washer and dryer with delivery and 3 year warranty on both for less than $1500.

I know you said the closest Sam's was 60 miles. It is a great way to save money, get a few people together and buy the big bulk items, then split them up. Very cheap. make a day of it.
You can also hit the salvation army for cloths and thing. Also yard sales are good as well.

I got my magic Jack for 59 dollars for the next 5 yrs no landline fees monthly and my cell phone is my business line. I saved 50 dollars a month for the last yr and paid itself off in just barely one month. I worked with the cell company by dealing with Customer care for the best options. You can get many discounts by dealing ith them. Customer Service can only do so much. I also keep heavy tabs on my monthly billd to make sure there arent any flaws or overcharges. Nearly monthly I had to phone and alleviate overcharges. I saved big money that most people just pay unknowingly. This I can say was one thing I gained from the ex girlfriend who would check her grocery slip and on occasion find overcharges. Protecting onesown interests is vital in these days of the modern techy world.

We don't have a local Craigs list. We do use freecycle for somethings.
