Program to convert Wavs to mp3s?

I use one that's not freeware, but I'm certain that itunes (free) can be configured to do this conversion.

Itunes can convert, you can even set it to the bitrate you want and the file you wan it to go to.

It did that with my previous version of XP, but this one doesn't.

Tried that but when I right-click there is no mention of MP3 conversion.

Open the file you wish to convert.
FILE > OPEN
The file should now be displayed in the main Audigy window ready for editing.
FILE > EXPORT AS MP3
allows you to save the file as a MP3

BUT...
the encoder is not native to Audigy. The encoder must be downloaded. It uses the Lame_enc.dll. The program pretty much walks you through the process, points you to the download location, follow the instructions, and link to the dll the first time you use it. After that it is automatic.

The default bit rate is 128. To change the bit rate
EDIT > PREFERENCES > File Format (TAB) > MP3 Export Setup > Choose speed from drop down

Steve - its easy. Go to your "purchased" list in the I tunes browser, select the song, click advanced; you will see: "convert to mp3"

There should be a tab to set preferences (bit rate etc.)

BTW - you can only do this with songs that are "+"
