"One" piece of gear under $1,000 you don't own, but really wish you did?

We'd love to have a battery operated PA like the Stagemate. Looks like we'll be aquiring one before long.

Maybe something like this.....Martin SCX-700 or something similar...or a couple of lesser expensive units...:)

Similar to what Kirby said, I could get four used Martin SCX-500 at $1000.
However, you said "one" piece, soooo...I'd have to go with...hmmm, actually I'm torn.
Backup laptop or Bliss light.

Right now - The Bliss Light BL15

Yep guys you have to get this light. This is the second wedding in 2 weeks that we used the bliss light. Both brides loved it. The venues loved it and as Cap has said talk with your photographers and let them know that this could put a laser spot on dresses and Tuxes its a very nice effect for first dance etc etc. If they understand and the bride and groom understand then your all good. The effect is just too cool. I would say for most standard venues that we play at it is PERFECT. Here is the venue that we where at tonight. Can you say referral.

In this photo from the venue's website. If you notice the elevator we had the bride and groom on the 3rd story and the wedding party on the stair case at the bottom in back of the elevator. We brought the wedding party in with "Thunderstruck" By AC DC I had an idea last night when thinking about it. And had the bride and groom desend in the elevator from the 3rd floor while thunderstruck played. Tons of energy and drama I loved it.

I knew when the elevator would desend so I gestured up words while everyone was watching. I could hear the oooh cool from people around. As they got off the elevator I had an edited version of "lets get ready to rumble" where the timing had to be perfect. I had practiced enough lol. As the song said " Are you ready for this". The bride and groom made there entrance. I could not have asked for better and the bride and groom now what to adopt my wife and myself. :sqwink:

I would probably buy another decent wireless mic.

I'm with Bill on this one. I just told Sandy the other day that we needed to invest in another combo system.

Because of the freq changes that are suppose to take place, I had to scrap the mics that we were using. To replace them, I ended up with a Shure combo that included the handheld and a lav. Now I would like a second for backup and to leave on my ceremony system.

Yep you guys this is a great effect light. I'm not sure if I can sell it or how much you would sell if for as and add on. I know for me its so easy to setup and just turn on. And the looks on these brides faces and guests faces is just priceless. Right now I'm using it more in sales as a give away just to edge that bride ever closer to us.

And yes yes I know the DJ is not about his equipment. But when i start telling a bride about dancing under the stars in her venue and her eyes start to fog over and I can see the clock ticking inside her minds eye. It is priceless. For me it truly is about making a fantastic event for them.

Because I know this leads to referrals. When the venues go awwwwe and the same reaction from the other folks it to is priceless. Ok Ben now you owe a special free light for selling your stuff lol. Yea guys doing mostly wedding and using it at the last 2 since we got it. Buy it ASAP. If I can get the photo from the photographer that I work with alot from last week I will post the photo.

Here's a quick shot I tried to upload from a previous thread.
