Whats Your Last Song For The Night/Evening/Event

Club: Take A Bow by Madonna or Why Don't We Get Drunk And Screw by Jimmy Buffet
Wedding: Last Dance by Frank Sinatra
Other: Last Dance by Donna Summer
When I worked at a nightclub, I would play a slow R&B number, as the lights come on. A little bump and grind sort of thing, whatever is hot/recent....right now I would play "The Dream - Rockin that Thang"
Some weddings I have done....I either played a singalong, or a slow song. Sometimes if they had no preference, "the Piano Man", or "Can You Feel the Love Tonight".....if its up to me, and they agree to it, I may announce the last song, and either play an instrumental of the song the bride and groom danced to as their first dance, or the same version....asking the group to form a "circle of love" around the bride and the groom, if they are still there.
Other? I will play whatever it takes for them to realize its over.....something they wont dance to, will not fight to, or something I like.....lol.

Since we're primarily a Wedding vendor, the Bride and Groom get to pick their last song and then we get our pick to finish the night!
I know I've posted these before, but what the heck....I constantly repeat myself (just ask Coreen)...so here goes..Some of the more common selections for us:
1.) Take Your Drunken Ass Home * Big Al Carson (Really Rowdy Crowds, most don't know it...but after I play it, they're singing along.)
2.) Wasn't That A Party * Scooter Lee (Country/General Crowds)
3.) Closing Time * Lyle Lovett (Country Crowd that needs to be mellowed out.)
4.) Happy Trails * Roy Rogers and Dale Evans (For Stuffy Crowds that you don't want to offend.)
5.) Last Dance * Frank Sinatra followed by Last Dance * Donna Summer (If I feel the crowd will go for a slow/fast dance song combo.)

Man that brings back memories. I used to watch Roy Rogers on Saturday mornings when I was a little kid.

I stay away from the Van Halen one, as I used to use that when I was bartending and that was the song that meant..."Go home, there's no more alcohol being served!"

Not familiar with that song...or the movie (which is no big surprise there.):sqerr:
I kinda tell the audience or married couple what I think the meaning of the song is, then give it to them as a gift. Many times BG's in my area don't care for having an official last dance...they just leave it up to me.....The meaining of the song to me is a paradox of fun and trying times marriage can bring. Like a boat lost at sea. But through time alone, love will find its way through the waters.

No real closing song but I did have to play "I love this bar" when I was doing a club gig recently. Funny thing is....it was an urban/top 40 club. But, that's what the owner wanted.
