Anyone use the Shure PGX24/SM58 wireless system? Thoughts, reviews, comments? I don't have a wireless mic (only wired) and have decided that I need a wireless as well. I have also heard that this will work after the February switch.

I have that mic.... excellent for vocals especially if your a fan of the wired version of the SM58, good range too. Not as many channels as their upper models but should be fine for most unless you're running sound for a production company.

The frequency is good, but here is the difference between the PG and the EV Re2 we've been discussing:

Channels -
PG - 9
EV - 1112

Bandwidth
PG -unknown
EV - 28 Mhz

Antennas
PG - Internal. You get what you get.
EV - Dual external 1/4 wave dipole, detachable w/ TNC connectors. Other options available.

Transmission Power
PG - 10mW
EV - 30mW

Battery Indicator on Receiver
PG - No
EV - Yes

There are lots more benchmarks, grouping, etc... but they really aren't in the same league. It's just a price and performance thing.

In my opinion... the price is so close, it's foolish not to step up since the EV is basically in your given range. BUT, the Shure is the best system for IT'S price. Either way, I'm proud to sell both brands and proud to have great pricing on both. ;)

I have used that combination at my last club where it was also used outdoor in a large area. I loved it. Clarity was excellent!
 
They work well. Shure is great for getting parts and also they will refurb you handheld for a very reasonable price. I paid about $300 each for my shure UHF mics about 5 years ago they are still going strong. I don't remember the models but they all are under 600Mhz I am considering the PGX to replace my no longer working AKG WMS40HT's

The one I am talking about is the PGX, not the PG. They are different.

DOH! Shure is. ;) My bad. Read too fast. Yes, PGX has 16 channels and external, non-detachable antennas. I've sold a lot of PGX, people are very happy with them.
