I'm now running virtual DJ 5.2 for my shows, I can't find in the user guide or in the config settings under video where I may be able to set the aspect ratio to default 4.3 I've contacted customer support and never get a reply. can any one help. Thanks

Mic Watson : When you installed the program, the User Manual .pdf file is in the Program Files installation folder.

What aspect ratio are you trying to change? The skin or the video?

Under skins in the config settings there is a list, Ive got it set on Virtual DJ full video, as some of my clips are in wide screen 16.9 or whatever I would like to set it at 4.3 aspect as most of my clips are this, I've got the PDF user guide and there is no mention of how to set this maybe a plugin???? Thanks Cap

You need the full screenresizer plugin that DJ Cel made... it's not a feature of VDJ, but a user made plugin...... you'll have to manually activate it when you have a Black bar video.. letterboxed videos are still in the 3:4 ratio usually, with black areas on top and bottom..... a native 16x9 aspect ratio video should automatically squish to 3:4, but a 3:4 letter box will not...

Letterboxed videos are not uniform, so the software would not know how far to stretch it..

The only way I would suspect that this might be accomplished if plug-ins and re-rips are not plausible is your big screen monitor setting.

Try the menu button on your big screen monitor and try the list of options under aspect ratio there. Hopefully the big screen will do all the work for you.

This is just a guess on my part.

Thanks Cap hope I'm not one of the Newbies blowing your mind just now? keep up the good work and you are doing good on giving the cigs away. I've got a demo to do in a new club tomorrow so will use all the info you guys have given me and if I find anything interesting regarding the aspect ratios will post it. Thanks again Mic the Newbie

The plug-in is on the Virtual DJ web site. Click on Plug Ins and scroll about until you locate it.

Hi Jon and the Admin team I'm a professional DJ in Bali, Australia and New Zealand, I also part own an independant Record Label in Australia linked to one of the biggest independant distributors in OZ (MGM) Metropolitan Groove Merchants, my background is tourism and Hospitality, my love of music is what's got me doing what i do now. I'm also looking at building a tavern ale house (Pub bistro bar) in Bali with the focous on Audio visual which no one is doing there, It's all Duooff Duooff club music targeting the young, my target group would be 35-60 with clips from the late 60's to mid 90's Thanks to ourDJ talk and the team I've managed to overcome many technical problems and has also helped me select a great DJ package. I'm reasonably technical even though some of the info is way above my head, hey I'm learning all the time so thanks for the help. I've many friends in the music business, DJ's as well and have been telling them about your Forums. I know many of your contributors are volunteers just as I am being a surf Life Guard, but hey it's not all about the money it's about your passion and your ability to help others. You folks are doing a great job and maybe you'll get some time off to drop into Bali sometime. BC is beautiful I've spent a bit of time in Canada Regards Mic

Here is how, but YMMV...

Install CCCP (not the Soviet Union), but a cool pack of CODECS.

Configure VDJ Codec section to use General Windows Video instead of VDJ's own for the desired filetypes (divx/avi/mpg/vob/etc...)

Tell FFDSHOW to resize by checking the box on the left.

Everything will play in it's correct aspect (assuming you changed the other file extensions as well - see above).

Again, YMMV.

Hi Ed thanks for the advice, please tell me what the reference YMMV means and where would I get the CCCP codec pack from, most of my current files types being used are AVI and a small amount of Mpegs. As I said in a previous quote most clips I have are 4.3 as they are old but the newer ones are in wide screen 16.9 and alike. Thanks again

and YMMV = Your Mileage May vary

I ran a MKV 720 HD clip and looked super on a 800x600 display and was correct letterbox. Otherwise, would have been stretched top and bottom.

Just make sure the file associations in VDJ are set and FFDSHOW video has the resize box checked. You can find that in the CCCP program file settings.

I think this allows you to play FLAC in VDJ as well.
