Help with some Canadian favorites

Thanks everyone!!! I had a great evening. Don't be mad at me, out of all of your suggestions I played "Snowbird" and I sang "Could I have this dance". I will definitely be singing "Could I have this dance" again, it got people out on the dance floor. I sang about 2 1/2 hours total and played various music like salsa, mambo, merengue, big band and a little country. We didn't get to the line dancing.

I ended up using my EV Sx100+ speakers and a small 10" speaker for a monitor so I could hear myself and the music. I barely had the volume up and still the old folks were complaining from the start that it was too loud. As the night wore on and they got used to it and had a few drinks I was able to increase the volume a bit.

Some of the songs I sang, Sinatra-You Make Me Feel So Young, Sinatra-Come Fly With Me & I've Got The World On A String, Dean Martin-Ain't That A Kick In The Head, Chuck Berry-Roll Over Beethoven, Runaround Sue, Wanderer, Who Put The Bomp, Up On The Roof, Under The Boardwalk, Ray Charles-Georgia On My Mind, Puttin on The Ritz, Minnie The Moocher, Tony Bennett-I Left My Heart In San Francisco, Ringo Starr-Your Sixteen, Just a Gigolo, Heatwave-Always and Forever, Billy Joel-Piano Man and a whole bunch more, I think I sang around 50 songs. Right before midnight I sang New York, New York and it got everyone up on the dance floor. They were all in a big circle, holding hands, it was great! One of the people did the countdown and New Years announcement while I sang. I was so happy to see everyone up and involved.

The night was really good and they said they loved me and they were very pleased. I got several compliments on my singing. The last song I sang and the last song of the night was Louis Armstrong-What A Wonderful World, it was a perfect ending.

Stepphenwolf is a Canadian Band. You know the song Born To Be Wild.

I learn something new everyday sometimes more than one thing. I had always thought there was only one Band called "Steppenwolf" (never even heard of the one called Stepphenwolf)!

And I had always thought that LA was in California and didn't realize that Cali was in Canada!

And last but not least I had always been under the impression that John Kay was from Germany, Now I find out that he was from Canada!

You were half right anyway:

John Kay (born 12 April 1944 as Joachim Fritz Krauledat in Tilsit, East Prussia) is a German-born Canadian singer, songwriter and guitarist known as the front man of Steppenwolf.

There are so many Canadians in the US entertainment business both Music and Comedy it's become transparent to most US folks just to assume they are American.

We like that as it cuts down on needless paper work as we criss cross the US / Canada border exporting beer and hockey players and importing all the other stuff.

Boney M were all from the Carribean and put together by a German prodoucer.

I would have recommended that you play some tunes by Guy Lombardo and The Royal Canadians.

Prior to Dick Clark's tenure, Gut Lombardo was MR NEW YEAR'S EVE.

Just to elaborate on the Boney M thing:

It became a hot topic on these boards after I mentioned that RASPUTIN is a MUST PLAY, and it was unheard of by so many in the US of A.

ELVIRA is another hot topic.
