Is America in some sort of recession??
Absolutely!
I work at a company in which we just got laid off....for an indefinite period of time! But we build Atvs, snowmobiles...not necessarily needed items!
Has anyone found it odd...Microsoft just nailed record sales in December, and they sell and Xbox?? How is it that people can afford "luxury" items, but yet they are on welfare and other programs not being able to support the babies?? America is beyond comprehension on what we value! We hear "cigarette taxes coming soon"...and some smokers say, "how am i going to afford milk for my kids?" Our priorities have been dirtied by items that are not needed! It is absolutely a privilege to have a 52" television, and 250 channels on your cable provider! People talk about how tough life is, and the struggles in life they are experiencing, yet most of these people aren't willing to part ways with their "luxuries"! I am an electronics freak, and I love all types of new gadgets, but these items are not crucial to my survival. And dont get me started on "buy now, pay later!" Thats what destroyed many of our lives. 18 year olds can get a $10,000 credit card, with having no real financial obligations in their lives before, and the first thing most kids do is...max it out...i dont care what they bought...it just happens. Well pretty soon, the kid often finds themselves missing a payment, and wam the card company has you in its grip. Then this kid finds themselves calling other cards/banks to bail them out. Everything is good, and maybe they get their stuff straightened out..but if you dont, you keep on borrowing. Pretty soon, you are the average american consumer, and you rely on "BUY NOW PAY LATER!"
You have been brought into a vicious system, that is really hard to get away from. If you make one million a year.....you'll want a 20 million dollar home. It does not matter how much you make, most american fall into buying now and paying later. Instead of living within your means, people choose to pick the latter. Don't get me wrong, I have fallen into the trap, and after my sad unemployment fallout years ago, I am just finally reaching the top of a disastrous mountain I never want to climb again. A simple $100/credit card payment...on a few cards, and pretty quickly I was in over my head! It happens all to easy and all to fast. I clamped down on my "LUXURY" spending, and now we talk about a recession yet we are surviving. I do know some people are "really struggling" and my heart truly goes out to them, and America needs to help those people. But some people are using their laziness, and not wanting to work as an excuse to not work and try make it! This is not true for everyone...so please dont go there!
I am going to say this...spending has slowed down...but is this a bad thing, or is teaching us to value the things we got now?? I hope Obama signs a bigger incentive to help get this economy rolling again, it is much needed! I was born and raised in the country, and I will always find a way to survive! One other thing that bothers me about this economy is people making excuses why their business isnt going good. Some companies were just meant for doom, either that or.......these people do not how to run the business they are in! I have seen many examples of some of the business in our area, and its like..."I can tell you some of the things wrong with your business, that dont even relate to the economy!" Anyways..either way....we so need a jump start to get America rolling again! I think the economy is already rebuilding, but we must be careful this next time around to make sure we don't take a step backwards again!
Best of luck to all my fellow djs this year...if you are struggling, just hang in there, our business will slowly increase again, and everything will be A-Ok again!
