I don't think it is real.... but I guess it could be.... They listed their price for a DJ as $750 - $1000.

One thing I didn't copy and paste was the music request list.... "funny" how I ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS get requests for Reggae and Salsa from Allentown on this service.

Is that a Decidio lead? I have had pretty good success with their leads, and so far the price is right. It's been my experience that people submitting leads there usually have a pretty level-headed and appropriate budget range listed. That's in my area of course, may be a different ballgame in yours...

Yes, but to date, I have not yet had a single successful lead from them that I purchased, which is only about 15. In fact, I have only had real contact with one potential client.
 
That's funny.

I am in the process of quoting a 5 hour wedding at the Allentown Brew Works in June. Most of my gigs in that area involve Salsa, Reggae and some hip hop. I enjoyed every party that I played for in that area. Macungie and Bethlehem are other areas that I play for as well.
 
My experience with Decidio mirrors Chuck's. When my $20 is used up, I'm unlikely to re-up.
 
Wow, that's too bad... I've booked 4 weddings and one party from it in the last two years, and for the $40 or so bucks I've spent, that's no joke!

A lot of follow-ups with no responses, yes, but the few that did click went well. Just one of those things I guess!

Funny how markets differ. I have had great success with the YP while most starve to death with them while others do ok from Wedj but I haven't had a solid lead from there in over a year

Agreed. I myself am done with paid internet advertising above and beyond the yellowpages online, which has paid for itself for me.

I have had it with all the industry-specific gig-finder/lead sites. My '09 plan will not be including any of those:)
 
Well... there's the gotcha with vendor listing/lead sites. They tend to do well in larger metro areas. Once you get out of the city they aren't much help. Or haven't been in our experience.

What they should do is use the ZIP code method for vendor searches with a mileage option.

I agree with the online YP ~ it's area-specific and you'll probably have better luck getting bookings that are more local to you.

I get two to three emails per day from a listing site that I never even heard of, let alone registered with. The emails are simply disguised ads, trying to get you to pay for their leads. I'd pay for a lead that panned out. I'm not gonna pay to converse with price shoppers who live a hundred miles away. :)

A funny: I received an email from a bride in Arizona wanting to book us for her wedding. I mentioned in a response that the travel expense would probably not be cost-effective. She replied and thanked me... the listing service she found us on didn't specify that we were in Delaware. :D
 
Decidiot never worked for me. ROI was horrible. Too many say "budget of $300-$500"

In fact, nothing has worked as well as Organic Search.

My entire web marketing cost in 2009 = $120 for Web Hosting + $110 to WeDJ + $120 for CitySearch. ($360 total)

No bridal fairs, no Yellow Pages, and NO Decidiot...
