I think am picking one of these up tomorrow...$100, and seems to do what I need it to do, and better than similarly priced furmans

Monster Pro 900 Power Center Details
Monster PowerCenter Solution for Professional Musicians. Now, Monster has created a true professional PowerCenter, combining advanced power line conditioning with high capacity surge and spike protection, that's within reach of any musician, studio owner, custom home theater installer, and enthusiast. The PowerCenter PRO 900 reflects Monster’s commitment to creating performance-enhancing power solutions for music Professionals that everyone can benefit from.

More Than a Surge Protector, with Clean Power Stage 1 v.2.0 Filter for Improved Sound. Protecting your equipment is mandatory, but PowerCenter PRO 900 does much more than prevent catastrophe. Patented Monster Clean Power filter circuitry virtually stops most electrical line noise that goes right through ordinary surge protectors. Providing the most basic, though effective level of Monster Clean Power, a single overall filter rejects noise on the AC power line that can detract from performance in audio equipment, allowing all of the rich harmonics and tone to come through in your performance. PowerCenter 900 was designed to help you achieve the best possible sound by keeping harmful interference out of your equipment's AC power supply.

Exclusive Dual Mode Plus Disconnect Protection Circuitry for Advanced Surge Protection. Metal Oxide Varistors (MOVs) by themselves, as found in many other products, are not enough to protect your equipment. Unlike ordinary surge protectors, the PRO 900 features exclusive Dual Mode Plus protection circuitry to automatically disconnect all of your connected equipment if your electric line is hit by a big surge (such as from nearby lightening). While some other surge protectors leave equipment connected and vulnerable after such a hit, the PRO 900 disconnects them. And if your system takes a hit, dual indicators with lights and an audible alarm will tell you that Monster Power has protected your system from damage.

Get All the Performance You Paid For with the Monster Power Professional PowerCenter PRO 900. Convenience is vital, too—which is why PRO 900 also features component-assigned color-coding with matching power cord labels for easy identification (especially useful if you have to set up and break down a lot!). It’s also rack-mountable for easy integration into custom installed rack-mount systems.

For complete surge protection, power conditioning and hook-up convenience, choose Monster Professional PowerCenter PRO 900 to protect your valuable pro audio or home theater system while helping it achieve the best possible sound.

Opinions??? Sounds pretty legit to a newbie like me lol

Please bear in mind what these folks have been saying: You'll never get more than you pay for. :)

Also let me tell you a little something about the Monster systems I ownedhree of the 3500's which have on and off sequencing all the best protections etc. etc. etc. and were very expensive.

All were junk within 6 months and they have a good warranty replaced and junk again in 6 months, replaced and junk again in 6 months.

Much like my experience with the Allen & Heath 32 channel live sound board, they spent more time broken down and in transit for repair than they did on the job. I sold off two of them and the last one I didn't even bother to have repaired again because the warranty had run out.

I will never buy another Monster anything or any A&H anything!

Tascam, Peavey and Yamaha for live sound mixers, Peavey and Crown for amps, Peavey for speakers and Fruman for protection! I like my gear to last longer than it's warranty!

so there are times when you pay a lot and don't get what you pay for!

Sorry to hear you had problems with A&H, their stuff is usually pretty rock solid??? I have been to many venues and installed some the gear which has yet to fart out. Maybe they just aren't road worthy??? Maybe they are improperly being transported?

Travis I respectfully have to say your comment about improper transport must end with the no way buzzer. YOu likely couldnt even wrap cables proper enough to satisfy Mr Miller. His gear most of it older than you are. I think his transport technique cant be challenged or the issue here. LOL

Steve's Peavey amps came over on the Mayflower. They've never been serviced and still kick arse. Of course, there's an old rumor that Carvin had DCM amps on the Mayflower but had to put Peavey logo plates on 'em to get past the contract riders. :D

I've heard a little good and a little bad about A&H. I've never worked with nor owned one so I can't say either way. I was under the impression that A&H was an upscale brand.

Yeah Jon, but as a computer tech always asks "Did you restart the system" I know that question is elementary and not ment to belittle, but not all cases are made equally as you all know. I'm just trying to cover all bases here, objectively.

Travis,

You are correct many A&H boards are used and hold up well in studio use where they are installed and are never moved. But there is a long list of complaints about their ability to hold up as touring gear. It doesn't matter how careful you are in transport, I had a failure when it was shipped back from repair, and never got to use it.

Installing a board and never moving it is one thing, quality construction shows up in gear that is moved around and still holds up regardless of the move. Quality shows up when that amp you have can fall off of a truck at 50 MPH and still works without a problem. Quaility shows up when an amp is completely submerged in a flood filled with mud for 3 months and be steam cleaned and still function.

Steve, that is why in Hurricane Beaumont, most of the GOOD venues have the Crown Macrotechs ;)

One building had water damage right on top of the amp rack, and I be dang if they got those guys cleaned up a little and back to normal.

Phone Ben tomorrow Akhan and you will finally reap your reward! Northern Light FXour sponsor please read my lips.

It's no different than hiring a DJ... you get what you pay for.

I had a Furman years ago... when they were just varistors and such, that fried from and over voltage mistake the venue made. Smoked, fried, etc...

But every piece of equipment that was attached to it had "zero" damage, and all went on to live a healthy life with standard longevity for pro equipment.

It fried and was cooked...but nothing else even "hiccupped".

I know this is an old thread, but I had a question. I just picked up a furman pl plus C and was wondering if I could plug my surger protector into the power conditioner if I need to extend and add more outlets.

Of course you can plug it in, AND receive the full service of the conditioner. However, the questions are, what's the current rating of the conditioner's single outlet that you are plugging into, the current rating of the conditioner itself, and how much more will you be drawing on that strip?

If the current draw from the stick does not exceed the that of the outlet's rating, or will not add enough to go over the overall rating of the conditioner, there should be no problem.

That's the electrical answer. However, in practice, if I have more plugs than outlets, I go to a second conditioner for added safety. Call me over cautious, but I wouldn't add the stick to the conditioner.
