My gig machine is about 2 1/2 years old.

AMD 3,500+, 2.2gh 1gh Ram.

It runs audio just fine. I use VDJ, And sometimes pull up my windows media player for song look up.(tagging problems)

Now....While doing Karaoke, the WMP doesn't work for crap..Real glitchy

I am doing abit more Karaoke shows than normal, And will be adding music videos to my show in the next few months, So i know that more machine muscle is in order....

Any suggestions?? As to how big i'll need??

(BTW, This one was custom built, Is stripped down, and is only used for DJing)

I would try a RAM upgrade first. I have a PC with almost the same specs and I went from 1 GB RAM to 4 GB and it made a world of difference. I bought the RAM on sale and 4 gigs cost me $100. Cheap and easy fix.

young...

It's all stripped down. I had it custom built as a gig machine.
It only has the bare essentials...

I'll look in to adding more ram to it, And see if that helps..

1 gb should work fine for just karaoke... VDJ ran alot of resources when I tested it... If you are going to eventually run videos I would go with the fastest processor you can with as much ram as possible..
Also take note on XP vs. Vista on the software you will be using.
Xp software that is built for XP but compatible with vista will generally use more processing power to do the same job.

Also you got anything goin on Mondays or Tuesdays... Maybe I can make a short trip one day an we can do a meet greet.

Its a XP machine.

My work schedule is kinda messed up sometimes..

I'll PM you my number.

Something else that could help

Try a Disk Defrag (Start-Programs-Accessories-System Tools-Disk Defragmenter) This should be done regularly

Depending on what programs you use Clean out Temp folder (C:\Document and settings/Username/Local Settings/Temp) This can be a silent slug on your harddrive continuously filling up and last i read it was good to leave at least 1gb free space on your hardrive.

I agree with adding at least 1gb of RAM that will help.

I would also just up the Ram too..

install the latest WMP v11 (that helps)

also a defrag

and get ATF Cleaner
its freeware and its portable that helps clean out all the temp files all the time created and dont delete when you shut down...

just google it

Update:

I ran a scan on the 2 internal h/d's. The one with the O/S needed a defrag pretty bad it seems....:sqembarrassed::sqembarrassed:

I totally forgot about doing it on a regular basis.....

Thanks Guys!!!

It runs much,much better now:sqbiggrin:
