A couple of things before we get started.
I'm a very satisfied subscriber of Prime Cuts and I'm just giving my impressions of these songs.
Papa Deuce has asked me to color code my post, which I thank him as it was an excellent idea.
RED = Sucks or something like that.
BLUE = Doesn't suck so bad and might even be good.
GREEN = Made me happy.
Again, these are only my biased opinions and comments.
1. When I Dream Of Michelangelo – Counting Crows (AC)
A very ho-hum release that just never gels and I’m afraid that if you played this one during dinner you would have everyone nodding off during mid-chew.
2. Bounce – Cab (CHR)
The first time I heard this, I was thinking that it sounded like Maroon 5 meets Matchbox 20. Pretty lively rock/pop radio song that doesn’t break any new ground but it’s catchy and has a bouncy chorus.
3. Away – Enrique Iglesias – Feat. Sean Garrett (CHR)
This song comes off sounding a bit like a Ne-Yo clone, only with a much stronger sound due to it’s production and Enrique’s vocals.
4. Just Like Me – Jamie Foxx – Feat. T.I. (Urban)
Quite an infectious song that actually has a melody and could have stood by itself without the “Rap” thrown in near the end.
5. Do The Ricky Bobby – B-Hamp (Urban)
I have no idea what a “Ricky Bobby” is and maybe I don’t want to know. It’s one of those songs that will get in your brain and won’t leave. Whether that’s good or bad, I’ll leave that up to you.
6. Long Distance – Brandy (Urban)
This tune proves that a slow song does not have to bore you tears. I absolutely love her voice and this song.
7. Lost – Gorilla Zoe – Feat. Lil’ Wayne (Urban)
Reminds me of a ghetto funeral dirge.
8. Ifuleave – Musiq Soulchild – Feat. Mary J. Blige (Urban)
Ok, it’s not Marvin & Tammy but overall it’s a pretty nice modern duet.
9. Break Ya Ankles – E40 – Feat. Shawty Lo (Urban)
Very repetitive and wears very thin on my nerves, very quickly. Might make you wish for Crank Dat to come back?
10. River Of Love – George Strait (Country)
There’s a reason why they call him King George. A nice easy flowing country tune that will have you tapping your feet and singing along to the chorus.
11. Belongs To You – Emerson Drive (Country)
Probably will end up as a buckle-polisher for the right crowd. Personally I find this song kind of boring.
12. Sweet Thing – Keith Urban (Country)
Here’s Keith doing his best Rascal Flatts imitation as it sounds pretty interchangeable with any of their uptempo songs.
13. Ride – Martina McBride (Country)
Starts off like it’s going to be a real barn-burner but Martina keeps this country-rocker from ever really taking off.
14. Dead Memories – Slipknot (Rock)
Cripes! I be banging my head to this heavy yet restrained offering. This is one that I was really surprised with.
15. Please Come In – Black Stone Cherry (Rock)
Ah, the boys have been listening to Led Zeppelin, eh? Give this song a chance, it might grow on you.
16. Lollipop – Framing Hanley (Rock)
They took a song by Lil’ Wayne, which I absolutely hated and made it barely tolerable.
17. I Hate This Part (Moto Blanco Edit) – Pussycat Dolls (Dance)
Think Madonna on steroids or is that hormones?
18. Troublemaker (Richard Vission Remix) – Weezer (Dance)
So, Weezer is in there somewhere? Not getting this one, maybe I need some drugs.
19. So What (Bimbo Jones Radio Remix) – Pink (Dance)
I’ll take the original over this any day. Don’t mess with the Pinkster!
20. Savior, Please – Josh Wilson (Christian)
Middle of the road song that doesn’t stand out from pack.
