The wedding reception I have this weekend the bride and the groom both said they want some Pink Floyd played during the night, I was thinking I could do 1 during dinner, but thought one during the open dance segment would be good, the only one I can think of during dance time would be Wish You were Here for a slow song, but what would you play before it, maybe another rock slow song?

Instead of a slow song how about one that is slightly danceable like "Another Brick In The Wall"

Man, just thinking about som Floyd coming out of the Bose system makes me hot!
 
I've used Comfortably Numb before but I wait until later in the night when they are comfortably numb

I actually might have some video of the last time I played it let me check
 
A slow song both of which were mentioned would be good, you can always fade them out, kinda long.... but as always, ask them, and if they don't have any ideas, put on Dark Side Of The Moon for dinner and let it go......

I do like that one. I was thinking it would be very late in the evening. I think I need to rerip my Pink Floyd cd's they are not ripped very high, numb is only at 128bps
 
Many years ago I used Great Gig in the Sky during dinner.

And late at night, with the right ( drunk ) crowd, Money might be a fun sing along. I mean EVERYBODY who knows Pink Floyd knows the words.

Hell, as I am thinking about it, I would actually encourage everybody to sing along on the dance floor! Tell them that Pink Floyds is the B & G's favorite, and I bet you could get people to sing en masse.

Funny you mention that...just last week I set up my Bose solely for the purpose of playing Wish You Were Here (the album)...F*ING AWESOME! Shine On You Crazy Diamond was everywhere, that's the only way to describe it, it enveloped you..it was amazing (and I wasn't stoned).

For Mike...
There are a couple of albums featuring full orchestras playing the music of Pink Floyd. That could be fun to sneak in during dinner, as I've done before. It great to watch the crowd as they realize what they are listening to.

I have Orchestral Maneuvers: The Music Of Pink Floyd by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. But I've seen others on Amazon.

BTW, for any Jethro Tull fans there is A Classic Case: The London Symphony Orchestra Plays The Music Of Jethro Tull, Featuring Ian Anderson . A personal favorite, in fact probably the one album I would take if I could only take one to that proverbial desert island. The song War Child is amazing on this album. Hmmm...I think I need to set up the Bose in the living room again tomorrow.

i like to mix in some good classic rock into dinner and cocktail hours.

pink floyd Shine on you crazy diamond(among others mentioned)
van morrison....numerous songs.
beatles something or and i love her

I find some "rockers" appreciate the classic stuff while still maintaining the 'background" music feel.

It's terrific and the crowds always like it!

My client from last Saturday edited together parts one through nine of Shine On You Crazy Diamond. He wanted it for dinner. Not a hiccup or burp in his editing job. We played it and it worked.
