Ok I know you all have been hearing it but. Lets take it into reality. Next year many microphones will just not have problems they will be illegal to use. My question is how can any vendor keep selling them if they know next year they will be useless.

I have a total of 5 wireless that I can't use next year because they are in the 700 range. I just added the 4 of them the vocopro for karaoke and extra mics at ceremonies. And please don't say you get what you paid for because I paid for mics that would work next year. And if I had been told they would not work or could not use them next year. Then I would not have bought them.

I dont know Dave im kind of doing a wait and see it will be a long time til the get the overhaul on the public service or government bands they are going to use and lets face it the FCC has better things to do on Saturday night then try to triangulate our wireless microphones that are so intermittently used, now 3 years from now it will be a whole different story...

oh i certainly agree with you but its not like wham bam on xx date your county in CA will automatically be switched they'll need a new system, to designit, buy it, install it test it.. now for the fcc fines they need to know where its coming from and to do that they need to triangulate it or whatever and realistically your ceremony is taking a half hour to an hour tops and they are just getting their stuff set up, if hypothetically they were going to test it...

I mean dave in california

No Vehicle Without a driver may exceed 60 mph

thats how illegal this mic thing is..

Dave -

I agree with you and you SHOULD be ticked off. If it is a dealer, we can maybe write it off to ignorance of the changes, but if it is a mfg you would surlely think they are minding the shop. I was appalled at NAMM last year when a "new" wireless company was trying to get us to carry their product yet were completely "deer in the headlights" when I asked about bandwidth, intermodulation, and their view on the (then pending) FCC changes. Most of the wirelss companies we do business with discontinued production above 698 immediately.

@Ben

You showed them lol. I love it!

LOL. Thanks Travis. You know... I'm not right all the time, but I try to be honest all the time. The last thing I want is to buy some "party line" crap and end up unknowingly lying to my customers. I'm very possessive and protective of my customers. It is my belief that NLFX customers call on us because of our integrity, but also our education on the product. So nothing ticks me off more than a mfg telling me (after being informed of the FCC facts) that I can sell a "ton of them" because they are cheap so who cares about the pending law. Sorry kids, just not the way I do business. Needless to say, we do not carry this mfg's brand, and in fact, we put our money where our mouth is. Just tonight I turned away a sale from a guy who wanted a wireless (that is from a brand that we carry) that I could not in good conscience sell him. I lost the sale, but I kept my integrity. Sorry to be preachy, but Dave hit a nerve of mine with his post, and I want him to know that he should be all kinds of steamed up about it. If it was one of my staff that sold it to him, God help them. LOL.

Dave,
Take a look at what Steve Lynch and JoeChartreuse posted on the wireless thread. It's quite interesting ;)

Those of us who bought SENNHEISER microphones (Evolution G2 or higher) are feeling pretty good about our purchases right now. :) :) :)

I paid $399 for my EW-135 (handheld model) and $422 for the EW-122 (lapel model).

Best investment I've ever made --- ceremonies have been FLAWLESS ever since I went with Sennheiser brand.

(Note also that Allie, my professional singer/actress daughter--- swears by the Sennheiser brand and will not use any other microphone now that she's been "spoiled" by her dad)

I will sell you my Sennheiser 100 system if you like them. After numerous adjustments and trying to make this system work it is a case of constant signal drops and feedback rendering the system useless. I have set and reset this system to no end and I still can't make it work as good as my old AT 202. I just ordered my RE-2 to replace it yesterday.

young...

look so they are going to come in when your at a wedding while you (act dumb) didnt know that they was illegal the shop sold them so its them who should be jailed

- I WANT MY MONEY BACK THEN!!!

thats easy to get out of it....

I thought I read on here somewhere that they weren't including the wireless mics because the broadcast range was so small.

Anyone?

Look at the sticky thread ;)

You are being misled by bad press. NO mics will be illegal to use. Some may run into interference if their particular bandwidth is in use by a local full power station, causing YOU difficulty. However, if you have a clear channel ( which is why all my mics are multi-channel) it will be just fine to use it.

Just like all the VHF mics, which operate on bandwidths that are also allocated for other purposes such as TV and radio. This same exemption is what allows remote control devices and kids walkie talkies to be manufactured to work in the middle of the CB band.

Your mics will be exempt from any broadcasting legal changes due to the short range and low power of your transmission. As for emergency vehicles going by: It won't happen anymore that it does now, and for the same duration. If it doesn't happen to you now, it won't later.

Breathe easy, hold on to your favorite mics, and enjoy......:sqcool:

I agree with what Joe said, and am amazed at how rumors get going about how the mics won't work; blah blah blah

1. They will still work, and they will work good for awhile. Eventually there will be problems, but it might not be for years.

2. The FCC will not be going around looking for you

3. The chances of you interferring with an emergency or disaster situation is slim to none. These microphones are so low wattage that the disaster will have to be next door to you for you to bleed over.

I have 3 of the EV RE2 microphones in the B band (they are now for sale). I bought 3 of the exact same microphone (on A band) thru the recent Imperial sale.

It is purely an ethical issue. My thoughts are what's the difference between illegally downloading music and illegally broadcasting on unauthorized frequencies?

Reminds me of the CB radio days, with the "extra power tweaks", the "linear" amps, the "extra channels", etc, etc, etc. I know of one person who the FCC popped. The idiot was running a 1KW Maverick linear, ungrounded, through a Omni stick antenna and wiped out (monster TVI) TVs within two blocks of his house.

His biggest problem?

He was on it 4 hours a day for four months before being caught.

Though slightly concerned about any potential legality issues, I have about $15K in SONY studio wireless appliances, all of it in the reassigned UHF 68/69 band. Fortunately, each piece has access to sixty plus selectable channels.

I'm hoping that by the time all those reassigned frequencies are up and working, I won't be.
