I have two events coming up that I would like help with on song selections. The first event is a 7th/8th grade dance with a 'Hollywood/red carpet' theme. What I'm in search of are songs that are related to the themes 'Hollywood' and the 'Red Carpet'. Is there a 'Hollywood' or 'red carpet' theme song(s)? Two songs that come to my mind that have red in them are: 'Women in Red' and 'Red Red Wine'--however, these songs might not be recognizeable for the 7th/8th grade students--I'm searching for song that these kids might know or that can win thier hearts over.

My second event is a Daddy/daughter dance themed with 'stars' for students in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade and thier dads. The help that I need here is what kind of music to play--if any one has a song list for this type of an event could you please share it. The theme is 'stars' so any songs related to this theme is greatly apreciated. This event is 3 hours long, so if any one has done a Daddy/daughter dance could you provide me with any helpful advise. Also, what type of activities would go well with this type of dance? Limbo, YMCA, Chicken Dance, Hokey Pokey--any others??

A bit trite but Sinatra's New York, New York may do for a red carpet intro tune.

Father/daughter dances... the Country genre is rife with 'em. In recent radio rotation (it was actually released months ago) is You Can Let Go, Daddy by Crystal Shawanda.

mmmmmmm I don't know about that song... you do know that the dad dies at the end of the song right?

Daddy's Little Girl - Tim McGraw
Butterfly Kisses - Bob Carlisle
Have I Told You Lately - Rod Stewart
You know the usual daddy daughter songs.
Stars - Moby
Star Wars Theme
All Star - Smash Mouth

New York, New York is a clasic for sure and most everyone has heard it--good pick!

I don't listen much on the country side; so that song helps a lot. Any others from country?

Some of your choices I hadn't thought of---I have 3 of them.

My brain wasn't functioning (big surprise). :D

There is a CD collection called Instrumental Classics that contains a decent selection of instrumentals that would work well. Look on Amazon (or eBay) and review the track listing.

There are a lot of father/daughter songs in the Country genre, many are more appropriate for weddings though.
EXCELLENT! I will check it out and search for the songs.
