Wow.....some of you guys are lucky you don't live in Cal-ee-for-nee-ya

That liberal use of the "F" word in this thread, and the acquiescence of the other members who post here, could constitute tacit acceptance of the term.

Living and working in a state with plenty of prospective GLBT marriages, and the potential income stream therefrom---I'm sure there are those of us DJs who do not want to be construed as gay bashing.

So, I ask kindly, that perhaps we tone down our homophobia.....

Couldn't we use ''GENDER PREFERENCE IMPAIRED?" -- its less offensive, says the same thing.

No it's not.

"Fag" generally refers to a flamboyant homosexual.

In your suggestion, "Impaired" may be less obvious, but is even more offensive, since it implies a defect similar to a physical or mental impariment.

I have a friend that admits he is a "flaming fag". But he would kick your ass if he heard you say "impaired".

In the example used in this thread, the best word would probably be "flamboyant", unless your gaydar confirmed a homosexual preference.

Now, back to the original thread...

ALL businesses offer discounts. Even the GWYW DJ's. But it's NOT the "raise rates by $200 so you can offer $200 discounts". Its more like raise rates by $1,200 and then stop nickel-and-diming stuff.

Depsite the discussion taking a queer turn, I'll add my $0.02

The expresssion is "Sell the Sizzle - Not the Steak."

It's just an argument for placing image over substance too appeal to a particular kind of customer.

There are some people to whom the sizzle means more than the actual steak.

You can sell great steak either way - but to sell an average steak takes a lot of sizzle. Which is ironic - considering the proponents of this plan.

If I were a steak - you could bite me.

And of course the GWYW guys understand fully all markets and market conditions in North America....I mean they would have to to make such a bold statement as there is room for a $1200 DJ in every market

I am currently the highest priced in my market and I can tell you honestly I got there by nickel and diming. I charge for everything...dinner music, mic (wired extra again for wireless),MC beyond basic..Everything. But then again if someone doesn't want the extras I don't have an all inclusive price offering services you don't need or want. You pay for what you get...Now there's a maverick idea

I have offered a few a plane ticket and $500 for every $1200 booking they get me if they want to come here and prove thier point. I'll up the ante and if they can book 5 or more shows at $1200+ I will buy the domain name worthersareright.com and publically apologize and become the next leader of the cause

Until then I'll make my money nickel and diming thanks

Then you get the "Ah, it's the ol' 'Try It In My Area First Cop-Out.'" But then all you have to say is, "Some things are 'old' because they have been true for a dang long time." :p
