I'm thinking of replacing my 1000's for the new denon 1200's and put everything in a coffin working in conjunction with my laptop.
anyone using the dns-1200's?

I just picked up a pair of 1200's from our good buddy Ben. I've tested them and have done the updates but haven't used them in action yet.
I love my 1000's and best of all, they were Made in Japan in the same factory as all the other high-end Denon gear. I was thinking about the new 1200's but then I found out they are now Made in China. Now I am undecided as to what to do since they are being made in a new plant, I would want to be sure of the quality before I made the switch. I will wait for the reviews to come in...
Steve- with all the features of the 1200, making it in China was the only way to undercut the new CDJ400 from PIO. Have you had issues with overheating from your 1000's? Some say it got too hot in the back end. They are now $299 each and Im thinking of getting them.
The 1000 is designed with the heat sinks at the rear so of course it does get warm there, as heat sinks do... I have never had an issue with them.
Instead of foam underneath the entire deck, I only have foam strips on the right and left under the player so that air can move around freely. No matter what gear you're using, you should always keep the air moving and not block it completely in.
At $299.00 they are a steal!!!

I was looking at 1200's for the total backup support, USB and CD's.
Steve are you still using the case you designed? I'm, but find it hard to connect spearker cables and laptop to it. I will post a pic later of what it looks like soon.

I picked up my case also through Ben at Northernlightfx. Has plenty of room to install cables.
Yup, I still use the case, it works well for me.
What I do is place the lid next to the bottom half but face the longer side towards me. Then I just put my laptop right on top, there's even room for a mouse pad! It fits on a 4 foot table that way. See photo...
I am thinking of making a removable, swivel laptop shelp for myself that would insert to the left (to the left... ) or to the right. Basically a short piece of 1 inch inside diameter tubing clamped to the inside of the case right behind the CD player; you can put one on each side if you like for more versatility. Then the shelf would be made out of aluminum with a 2 inch piece of 1 inch outside diameter pipe welded to the bottom off to the rear corner; you can put one on each side again if you like. It there is one on each side, a piece of aluminum bar would be welding between the two for added support. The shelf would be lightweight and you could store it in the lid!
No more case designs in the works for me since that a$$hole DJK case guy on ebay screwed me over; he was my China factory connection. There is a Marathon coffin case available for the 1000's with a 19" mixer in the middle, it's about $190.00 delivered. If you decide to order one, PM me before you do.

Ah, not a 19" mixer, that explains it... I want to add a DMX board to my case so 19" is a must. Thanks for posting the photo though.
here's a picture of my current setup, again my problem is connecting cables in the back of the mixer and would love to be able to put co-pilot controller in there somehow.
The case is an awesome design, but now I'm running out of space.
The lid for the laptop is the laplid from csnl, but also makes it a little far from my reach.

Yeah, that lid is too far for sure. My mixer is 4 rack spaces and I still have two rack spaces left to connect the cables which is easy. How big is your mixer? A lot of mixers have recessed jack panels on them, where they go in a few inches. How about buying two short right angle XLR extensions and leave them permanently connected? Saves wear & tear on the mixer jacks...
