Hold on...Puff Daddy didn't even write the rap in "I'll Be Missin You"???

I've been going through my music library tagging songs with the decades they were produced in. Today I cam across "I'll Be Missing You," the tribute to Notorious BIG by the guy known as Diddy, Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, or Sean Combs.

I'll remind you that over the years he's been criticized for ripping off classic songs, he can't rap, and he is definitely not a good songwriter.

But, I think we all let it slide because "I'll Be Missing You" was touching, heartfelt, honest...a good song all around because it took Sting's classic "I'll Be Watching You" and added personal lyrics about the friendship between Diddy & BIG.

It isn't rocket science and it isn't a Beethoven Symphony...it's just simple poetry.

The fact troubling me today is:

PUFF DADDY DIDN'T EVEN WRITE IT!

No, ladies and gentlemen, your man P. Diddy did not pen these oh so complex brilliant rap lyrics:

Its kinda hard with you not around (yeah)
Know you in heaven smilin down (eheh)
Watchin us while we pray for you
Every day we pray for you
Til the day we meet again
In my heart is where Ill keep you friend

It was, friends, a rapper named Sauce Money, who collaborated with Jay-Z early on his career but dropped from the label years ago. He won a grammy for writing the song in 1997.

CONSEQUENCE:

Diddy is hereby demoted from "thin on talent" back to "no talent whatsover."

What's this? A rapper taking credit for something he didn't do?

How shocking!!!!

He had a schtick that was popular with the middle school crowd for a while. Like many fly-by-nights, he was easy to outgrow. :D

He's a douche bag that tells people what nickname to call him by..

How the hell does that work???
Nicknames are given.......NOT chosen :sqlaugh:

At least Will Smith writes his own stuff and he sucks to. Diddy has enough money to pay people to wipe his ass. Why the hell should he write a song? He built his wealth off of the talents of others. Craig Mack, Biggie, Mary J, 112 and many others.

Sean Combs is a marketing/ Sales genius. Somebody has bought his stuff putting in the Elite/ Wealthy status he enjoys.

I've gotta give Will Smith credit for Wild Wild West, at least. That song didn't chase the over 40s off the dancefloor like Puff Daddy did. Puffy was more of a juvenile thing.

Unless it's a youth gig, that rap stuff sweeps the floors every time. May as well call a fire drill.

to heck with the sampling and the stealing how about this more recent release My Milli how annoying is that? I have been hating the play of this when it first came out weeks ago and sure enough like Crank Dat it has reared its ugly head in the rotation on radio and of course now being requested at gigs. Anyone know where I can replenish a earplug supply cheaply?
