I have a bride that wants:

Bridal Party Intro song Let's Get It Started ~ Black Eyed Peas
Bride & Groom Intro song Sexyback ~ Justin Timberlake

1st Dance Song Lost In This Moment ~ Big & Rich

WTF.....:sqconfused:

Makes no difference to me what songs they want for these events but those?????

Looks quite common to me.

Really ?!? Color me old fashioned but these are songs I normally reserve for open dancing.... maybe I'll just do some editing and get just the musical portions of the songs and mash them up so that I can play as one song....

Nah.... I just talk over the song. If you pre-edit you run the chance of running out of talk time.

Well that makes sense... and in fact that's what I normally do... either way obviously the bridal party song wont be played out but what about the B&G intro song... I'm thinking that once they are introduced I should fade to something more mundane... it just seems anti climatic that's all.

We use lets get it started all the time for intros and loop the intro with a hot key for the 1st chorus that we reserve for the bride and groom entrance.

Sexyback is odd
but i did just meet with a 21 year old groom and 20 year old bride who want their whole bridal party to enter doing a dance can you guess which one....

Soulja boy

Can you do cue points with whatever cd player or software you are running? It makes it way easy.

I don't know. Seems like Sexyback just won't go away. It's included in just about every play list I see. Never could see what is so facinating about this song. I think it's boring and I never did like it. Sorry for getting off topic.

Looks like I'll need to do some experimenting... I use OtsAV DJ but I've never tried or looked to see if it has a looping feature... if not it will be fun figuring out how to do things... first I need to find out for sure how the B&G would like it done.

We let the bride and groom pick the songs for the intro all the time. I've done sexyback, black eye peas all sorts of stuff. I also like to see the bride and groom go right into the first dance.

Having done it this way a few times it is one of the best times where everyone is watching no one is usually out smoking a cig or doing a jello shot. Most people are like oh wow the first dance and run to get the camera's.

Since we don't usually do the toast before dinner. I usually say something like this after the intro when they arrive at there table. "Alright folks we will be doing our blessing very shortly before dinner but take a couple of minutes and come up and congratulate our bride and groom."

I'll use the time to make sure all is ready with the person doing the blessing and the venue is ready for dinner etc etc. Many times I have found that the bride has not even told the person doing the blessing that they are doing the blessing, LOL a small matter of finding the person and confirming can make a easy blessing instead of a suprise.

This usually takes about 5 minutes and then I announce that we are ready for our blessing and lets give a great big hand to the (blessor). It seems most of the time I'm stuck releasing tables blehhhh. So I usually go from there. I usually start dinner music after the bride and groom arrive at there table and let the people know dinner will be shortly.

To me it seems people understand that they can now relax and talk to the bride and groom because there intro or first dance song is not playing any longer. Again this is just how I do it and so far I have gotten nothing but compliments from our clients and family. Remember I'm in Cali this place is hip hop central. Most of our brides tend to be 21 to 28 years old here.

And Joker remember that OTS fades so well and beatmatches so well my brother. I actually love it when our brides pick songs that fit there personality rather than business as usual. Most people will probably laugh when they hear the song sexyback and say yep thats them. About the only time we don't do the first dance right after the intro is when they know the buffet table will be in the middle of the dance floor. In that case its later after dinner.

Hey Rob, I did a wedding last summer where the B/G wanted "Sexy Back" as their intro music. It was fun and worked well.

I would just loop the intros and not even get into the vocals if that would be acceptable to them.....they probably want the beat and the vocals may mean little difference...

I will almost bet you the reason they want the song is because of the words.

You both could be right... we will see this one is a bit away yet and they could yet change their minds.

I had a wedding I was doing videography for where lets get it started was the opening song. The DJ (one of our own) was doing VO during it, no problem. Went straight into the first dance after that. That typically is the norm around here.
