I learned that the hard way. I saved several History lists as .ofl and .oil files early on and was POed when I later tried to load them up and I got <Placeholder> where a song was in a .ots file I had modified!

I was particularly stressed out about this one because I had no idea what the Bose was truely capable of...
I even told my wife that even though I didn't bring my regular system with me that if after setup and testing I determined that just the Bose wasn't enough I could easilly run home and get the other setup and run them concurrently...
I was convinced after sound check that I wouldn't and further even if I thought I did... I had absolutely no room to set it up.... I mean they were packed in like sardines....
The setup was pretty ideal for the dance floor.... I was pointing directly at a wall that was maybe 20-30' away... so my "dance floor" was a relatively small area to fill.... and I didn't need to fill the entire room (although it pretty much did) with "Club Like" sound.
Bottom Line: All doubts about whether or not a 1/2 Bose setup can handle a room with a 200+ person capacity.

Papa: Here's something funny... before the Bose system my wife and partner pretty much just came along on my gigs and watched me work... now she actually helps me setup and even lugs some of the equipment in and out for me like a real roadie would.... 
Heck she even helped with setting up my lights and even showed some interest in how my DMX controller works... you know just in case my fingers break and I can't operate it any more...

Just keep in mind you had a tight room with a low ceiling, 200+ in a large ballroom could be a challenge for one L1.
I'm not knocking the system, just keeping you planted on terra firma.

I used a cabinet drawer that gave about 4" more of height... I covered the drawer with a black sheet so that it wasn't visible. I'm not so sure I needed it though.
Good point... while the room didn't have high cathedral type ceilings it was large enough to accommodate up to 220 according to the venue staff and she tried to squeeze over 250 into it but cut it down to 240.

Even with a HUGE ceiling, it shouldn't be a problem for the BOSE. They don't shoot audio above the top of the radiator.

I can tell you, you won't be disappointed... I never even turned up the volume all the way and still had plenty of head room. It sounded good no matter where I stood in the room.
That statement is 180 degrees out of sync with the reality of the L1.
Ceilings and floors do not effect the propagation strategy and quality. In a cramped room, the dancers may be jammed on top of the L1 (1'-4' away from the grill). Ideally, one would want 4' - 6' spacing, grill to dancers. A larger room would probably give you much more room, thus more conducive.
and people wonder why Bose doesn't broadcast the watts.
Rob has found, just like I and many many others have found that's it's more than enough for a venue of 200 people or more, but that's not nearly as important to some people as a stat sheet. Again, it's not for everybody. But sound equipment really should be judged on the sound, not a spec sheet. Hey, maybe that's why they offer the 45 day trial.
it's kind of like judging a computer soley on processor speed. While processor speed is important, does it really matter if you are getting the performance you want? it's really the overall performance of the computer thats the main thing. The specs only come into play when things are not working the way you wish.
kinda the same thing with audio.
