Okay, since the first of the year, and through next month, I will have done gigs for:

Brandt Tractors - John Deere Retailers
Western Digital - Hard Drive makers
Azur Pharma - pharmacuetical maker
Nike - swoosh 'em Dano!
Land Resourse Group - Real Estate firm in LA.
Hyatt Hotels - you know
T- Mobile - can you hear me now?
NCL Cruise Lines - well boats
and
Enterrprise Rent A Car - putting you in the drivers seat.... okay, I think that was Avis...

so this is a busy time of year for corp outings here in Hawai'i.... but mostly coming up now I have weddings...... not sure what I like best...

what about you,,,,?

Good luck with all this gigs Chuck.
I like the Corp gigs more than weddings.I have a feeling that on Corp gigs goes mostly everithing OK but on weddings...More than peoples drink more they think they own you.!?
Am i right on that one?
But thats just me!

Yes Marco, I think you are right also,,, drinking has a way of making the Father Of The Bride, become, ummm,,,, pushy, let's say....

But anytime at any event when anyone drinks to much, they become a pain....

But it does seem to happen less at Corps.... but then again, when people are on Maui, they do seem to be a bit more mellow.... :)

I would prefer a wedding to just about anything, well almost anything, a Bowl of Cookie Crisp is pretty tough to compete with

The fact that I have stopped accepting weddings pretty much sums it up. It took years, but I finally got fed up with Bridezilla and Groom Kong. I have been able to charge pretty much the same for the large corporates as I did for weddings, they are easier (mentally and emotionally), and I enjoy doing them. Plus, I don't have to play Who's The Boss ( mother, bride, groom, or whoever is standing next to you last and swears they speak for the bride or groom), as corporates are usually set up by one or two people.

I would also add that I have experienced exactly NO loss of income by shifting my focus to corporate...... Anyway, that's just me....

Those doing corporates, care to share a bit of what you do? Are you doing interactive, team building things? Chuck, I know you do game shows, but how often for corporate?

I too would love to lean more toward corporate, I just have to find out what they like or are expecting.

Thanks.

Ron,,,,,, I live in a different animal here,,,, I would bet most of you only do corps at the Holidays, or maybe during summer for company picinics....

Here they come all year round for retreats, awards and so on.....

So most of my parties are just that dinner and awards and then a party...

Last night I did an Inter-Net Job company from Chicago and it was all Karaoke ,, 10 - 1 am....

they had dinner and a show outside, then came inside for the fun, I will post pics in a couple of days, my wife and I are going to go on a whale watching cruise today, so I'm just killing a little bit of time

Same animal here in NJ, Chuck. For those functions that you mentioned, plus officer installations, charitable events ( Such as a corp sponsoring a fundraiser for a civic organization), merger events where each of the previous old companies' officers ( and maybe other employees) meet and mingle with their their new associates ( I watch the business section of the papers for new mergers and jump on them), dedications of a new corporate residence or building, retirement dinners, top officers' birthdays, employee appreciation events (other than holiday or picnic),,,,,,,etc, etc. PLENTY to do.

no they do not have offices here,,,, they come here because it's Maui! LOL

90% of my gigs, and 100% of my Corps are booked with my agents,,, so again, for me it's different than most.

Doing the gig is the same, but getting them is different...

Corporations, most won't tolerate it.

I remember when a popular Broker that worked for us was leaving, and they the staff really liked him, and they had a big bash for him at the local watering hole, and my partner and I thought it best we not attend so all could have a good time.

When the boss is around all tend to be halfway reasonable.......
