I had a call this past weekend where the client specifically brought up this song as a "MUST PLAY". I don't have the event yet, and probably won't get it, but have you ever used this song for people to dance to?

He swears it will work with his crowd.

It's got to be Clapton. It was a big hit for the local bands to play toward the end of the night. Of course that was in the late 70's. It must be a reminiscing thing for them.

Yeah, but I can't stand the smell...

Whenever I play it, it packs the dancefloor. Play the Clapton version.

Ron's right. It was big with the local cover bands back in the day. That and Smoke On The Water, lol. :D

Some years ago I'd get a call for it at the VFW dances. When they were really in their cups they'd dance to almost anything. :)

In the early 80s, one of my first gigs was playing "rock night" at a Navy base. I played Clapton's 45 to death those nights. And yes, they'd dance to it. The live recording sounds terrific, the playing is great, the audience is fantastic. It's a blues number. Blues is the basis for rock 'n roll. And if anyone gives you grief about the lyrics, it's an anti-drug song. It simply mentions the drug by name.

I had it on a brides playlist last summer. She had 3 songs on the DNP list and 2 on the must play they were Cocaine and Cocaine Blues....

Must have been a theme wedding

BTW they both worked very well

I usually throw in a classic rock block for the dancers which works, and I could definitely see Cocaine working...I will try it at the next soiree for s's and giggles.

I've played it at many events, and many bars -- people dance :)

Although in my eyes, people dancing doesn't make a hit party. A hit party, is a hit, whether people dance or not. It's a good song to tap and bop as well (and play air guitar), and almost everybody over 30 knows it. :)

Whada ya mean cockaroach I ****ing love that song play it again ,...tell em Frank.

Amy does not have a version of that song lol. She recently made headlines when a video of her smoking "something" surfaced onto the internet a few days ago.

I had absolutely nothing to do with that... :sqlaugh:
