Weddings First 20 year reunion since they were in school!

My rule of reunions is to cover the 6 years prior to graduation pretty heavily. These were their formative years. I would specifically search for a few of those rarities and novelties that didn't really withstand the test of time. It is always fun to drop a few these throughout the evening. The...

Wireless mics - your opinion please

Not surprised. It is like this in many industries right now.

    I need an analyst

We mostly only remember the last thing we were dreaming about. And, since we woke up during the dream, it is no surprise the subject is unresolved. Have you ever noticed that the dreams in which you were dying are the best you've ever had? It's a Mad World.

    I need an analyst

    1) I didn't know you were also a dream analyst. 2) Maybe you used to DJ with an old buddy of mine. I would occasionally help him set up his gigs as he was 20 years my senior. I think he was guilty of dead air at least once at every gig I witnessed. He got flustered if too many people were...

    I need an analyst

I had a weird dream last night. I dreamt I was just finishing a gig and was starting to tear down. I look up and see that one of my speakers is above my reach (~8 feet high), sitting on a huge subwoofer. This subwoofer (about 3-4 wide and almost equally tall) was mounted on a stand and the...

Have you dealt with uneven ground?

When I have to set up on grass, I am always concerned with unevenness and/or a table leg sinking in. My solution was PVC end caps. I would get at least 3 different sizes that all fit inside of each other. The smallest size would fit around the table leg. If the grass was level and I was just...

Wireless mics - your opinion please

Good luck Ricky. I just got back from NAMM and a lot of vendors didn't show. One reason is that they have nothing they can ship.

    Problems with BT...

The Radial unit seems nicely thought out. The specs don't say which codecs it supports or which chipset it uses. While BT 5.0 supports AptX, there are several flavors of AptX (HD, LL, Adaptive, etc). Not all chipsets support all of these. It would be interesting to know. However, the codec or...

    Shocked and bewildered

I was the last mod standing at DJChat. I stayed loyal to Sid because he got me into my first NAMM show and that eventually led to a 15 year career in audio. Sid and I were not close and we rarely communicated. Hacking was an issue but there were also feuds between Sid and some of the other mods...

    Problems with BT...

It will still want to connect. The radio, phone, nav, etc are all part of one unit. It never really shuts off. It just connects with whatever connections have been established before whether you are using them or not.

    Problems with BT...

These days I do many casual parties at people's homes where a handful of guests will linger after the main party is over to help clean up. Maybe some of us linger afterwards for a quite a while. My JBL EON Compact weighs only 18 pounds and I just run it off its internal battery. I can have all...

    Problems with BT...

Yeah, I know that will work. I'm trying to avoid that. If I get a new phone, i could dedicate one to doing this. However, since new phones lack 3.5mm jacks, I am less inclined to upgrade.

    Problems with BT...

I always like to have music playing while setting up. I also have music playing while packing up. This is easy to do with a powered speaker with a BT input and a phone. Plug into the speaker in and start playing. At the end of the gig, do the reverse. Today's gig was an outdoor celebration of...

JBL EON Compact issue or is it my phone?

I was providing some sound reinforcement for a celebration of life today. I just used a single EON Compact for it and ran into an issue during setup where I was getting drop outs. First I thought it was a bad 3.5mm cable from my PC to the speaker. I replaced the cable (twice) and still had the...

How high does the price of fuel have to get for you to change your driving habits?

I have been working remote since 2004. Before that I was driving ~8000 miles a year. My first year as a remote employee, I drove 24000 miles. I was in sales. As I got to know my customers, I could do more work by phone. And, as my territory expanded, I was flying as much as driving. I started my...
