Will My Hercules RMX Console Work With Serato?

If you purchase Serato via the SL1 or SL3 box, it's designed to use with your existing mixer, why would you need to buy a new one?

The Hercules RMX is an all-in-one unit that would work with Serato awkwardly, at best, as Serato's sound card is part of what you purchase with Serato via the "box", or incorporated into a few Rane mixers. Therefore, you'd be unable to use the RMX's sound card.

I think you'd be much better off buying a mixer, if all you really need is a mixer.

Well I currently use The RMX with VDJ, but I want to start using Serato. I do not have a regular mixer because I just use the RMX. If I purchase Serato I just wondered if I could use the RMX as a mixer with Serato and My turntables instead of having to buy a new mixer.

You could think abt using ur very own TT's with VDJ's Time coded vinyls...and using the rmx as the mixer. Cheers! :D

You'll have to use "line in" as the source on each channel, and route your Serato outputs into them. You will have volume controls, but not tone controls, as the tone section is midi (before the soundcard) and not an actual analog audio tone control. It will work :)

I never thought about using anything other than Serato and maybe that is the answer. You know so many people say Serato is the way to go. Maybe I should look into VDJ time control vinyl. How good is it? And what is the actual software called?

The software is called Virtual D.J., no matter which way you configure or use it. Numark's Virtual Vinyl is packaged in a similar fashion to the Serato SL1 boxes, while Numark's Cue is Numark's standalone and/or controller-based, branded, software. You can order vinyl from Virtual D.J.'s website, or if a retailer stocks Numark's Virtual Vinyl records, they will control the software. PCDJ'S PCVJ program is also a variation of Virtual D.J.

I have only used timecodes on ocassion, so I don't have as much experience with it. I recall having to tinker with the configuration settings much more than I do without using timecode vinyl, but it works. A couple of pieces of vinyl will certainly cost you less than buying an entirely different program and interface. I'd give it a try.

I'm already running VDJ pro with my RMX controller, so if I wanted to run VDJ pro with time control vinyl I take it I should look into buying an interface such as the Numark you mention.

No what you would need is the time code vinyl a pair of tables and a mixer the RMX has a 4in 4out interface built into it. Many dj's use it (the RMX) both ways for simple gigs they use it as a midi controller to run vdj like you use it now and when the want to do all the scratching and stuff they get out their vinyl and a regular mixer and use the rmx as a sound interface and use the midi part to do samples effects while the vinyls act as the control surface.

I want to run my VDJ and My RMX just how someone who uses Serato does. What I'm not sure of is do I need to purchase an interface such as the NUmark. I have turntables already and I know I can run them into the RMX, but I want to use the turntables and control the music not the actual jog wheels. I want to scratch, but I dont want to have to lug a bunch of vinyl around.

Zinc's got it. All you need: Virtual D.J. Pro, Hercules RMX, a pair of turntables, and two control vinyls. The RMX will serve as your "interface", in this comparison.

MAN I COULD KISS THE BOTH OF YA!!! Here I am having this RMX controller and running VDJ for MONTHS NOW wanting to switch to Timecode vinyl, but ALL This time I thought the only solution was to spend another $400 on some interface!!! MY GOD!!! ALL THIS TIME WAISTED! But I'm glad I know now!!!! Thank you SOOOO MUCH!!

hi im sorry for being so ignorant but what you guys are saying is if i am running vdj pro and i buy control vinyl i can use my turn tables like i would with serato? if thats what your saying then how the heck do i set it up??

Steve Sharpe the Guru is at the Mobile Beat DJ Expo in Vegas,,,, he will check the boards I am betting when he can, it just wont be soon,,,, don't give up, I will tell him there is a post....

I would place the turntables to the left and right of the RMX, connect to the left and right inputs, and select "timecodes", and you should be ready to play.

I'm doing this from memory, as my RMX is locked up in the Expo room, at the moment.

glad you saw this Steve, since I forgot to tell you! and again, mahalo for dinner,, always great hanging with you....
