Personally soundscape really helps me but for others it doesn't work. For example i cant focus to lo-fi beats but others love it so i wanted to see all of your different genres of music that make you focus. Just a quick fact apparently gaming soundtracks from things like minecraft are so post to help because the music is not their to distract you but to help you focus. Thanks very much bye!

I like alt country to focus with. Classic rock works good too because I heard it all before so I really don't need to listen just put it in the back of the head

Depends for me... There are times when I need complete silence, and other times, oddly, some types of dubstep. I don't really care for that type of music any other time... I think I like the noise to block out all other sounds near me. If I play music I know or like, I tend to focus on the music more than my work. Now if I'm just working around the garage, 70's-80's classic rock

If working on mental activities, I need quiet. If performing mechanical activities, I typically go with classic rock or new wave.

In my pot-filled high school days,
my neighbor and I would listen to this very loud, in a dark room.

Today, I listen to it at home or work,
when I am doing something that requires a fair amount of my attention.
It is totally non distracting.

I have used it once or twice at a gig,
but finding the right place to play it is rare.

It depends exactly what I'm trying to do, but I've been experimenting with Binaural Beats:

You're supposed to listen to it with headphones for the waves to work correctly, but how the frequencies activate your brain is supposed to improve focus. I'm not sure if it improves it for me, but when I'm doing work like reading or writing I like having it on.

I certainly listen to normal music for some work too, but I think they're worth checking out.

What is normal music? I love classic Soul and my 2 favorite groups are Earth Wind and Fire then the Isley Brothers. I also love old disco music from the 70's and 80's. Also Deep Underground House Music. Stuff that is not the regular stuff that is played regularly for a certain crowd.

I just mean versus music I would listen to casually. The binaural beats stuff is pretty esoteric. When I'm listening casually I might listen to anything from rock, hip hop, oldies, dance music, jazz, funk... just about anything honestly.
