Especially brides (of all ages). You also made a good point on another post about it being a slow time of year. I'm hustling NOW to try and get my message refined before it hits the fan in November/December. For DJ, I was always at 6 month lead time. For Venue, it's more like 12-18 months. I've taken back the marketing/sales portion from my Events Director. I still feel like a 58-year old male has a hard time connecting with a 20-something female but Ross said it right that I am the one who has the passion to make this work so I'm the best one to make the pitch. I'm also trying to re-work the packaging to make it more effective. Taso was the one who correctly said to change up the basic level, so that you have an extremely attractive price to get them to take a tour. So far, not a single girl is actually wanting the basic. They're all going for the mid or upper tier. I don't want 40-50 events to work, scattered from $500-$10000. I want 25-30 events that have an average net of $5k+. From there, I'll keep working on the presentation and production until I can start raising that average.

On brides and their monetary decisions, I think I'm really starting to see how the cheapest price isn't really what they're looking for. The reality is that everyone has a certain amount of money they can spend for an event, and it doesn't matter whether it's a recession or not. Young brides want the full ride, and they want something big and memorable, so that they're famous with their circle of friends. The elopements are hitting the mark with older brides. Girls who never really got a "real wedding" and $1k-$2k is something that they're husbands/boyfriends will go along with. Yesterday, I noticed that one of my competitors is starting to offer elopements for $300. It's use of their venue and a preacher. While there will be brides who will opt for that cheaper option, those were never my clients to begin with. My task is to find the sweet spot, where I can get my own calendar filled, and hopefully at a price point that makes it profitable.
This is the goal... appealing entry point... but look towards the middle and upper points.

It's funny, I've already had a few tours where they came in, based on that $3500 price point. As soon as we get to talking, and they realize the value of all-inclusive, the $3500 goes out the window. You were right. Thanks for all your guidance and advice.

Moderately, as of now.
I understand what you said and I understand you're looking at improving on the venue and the revenue that's coming in. I'm just proud of what you have done so far! Keep it up and as the Isley Brothers song says Climbing Up The Ladder, keep going no matter how difficult it gets at times. The road to success is going to have its potholes in the road. Just keep going.

Thanks for the kind words. As for "keep going"..................I have no choice in the matter. I bet EVERYTHING on this.
So far it's working. It might not be at the pace you want but it's working. We are a society that is addicted to instant gratification. We want things yesterday. The obvious thing is not just making sure the bills get paid but also you get to make enough money to put in your pocket.

Forgive me if this is stupid but, did you not think to take that Google phone to a repair shop? $80-$100 will put a new screen on it and can usually be done while you're eating lunch.

I did take it to two different shops. Cost quoted at one shop was $150+ tax, and they have to order parts...About a 24 to 48 hour turn around.

The other shop is one I used 3 years ago to restore a screen on an Old Galaxy S3 for my son. Anyway, they told me $149, and also have to order parts after they looked around for more than 10 minutes trying hard to find a new screen to replace it with. Then I told them to let me think about it, and see if my son really wants my old phone. They told me they would knock $10 off, and make it $139, but that is the lowest they can go because parts are expensive for a Pixel 3XL phone apparently.

My son does want the phone. So I am heading back up there tomorrow night to get to drop it off there. My new (to me) Galaxy S10+ came in today, and just got it activated!

What about retrieving data from the other phone to the phone that just came. When I upgraded AT&T took the info from my old phone and put it on the one I have now. I got a text message saying I can upgrade to a newer phone. I decided I will keep this phone till it dies.

Thanks for the perspective. The one thing that I do NOT ever want to do, is offer a $400 ANYTHING. On Elopements, while I understand what you're saying, the word "elopement" is something that most everybody is familiar with and yes, it's different than a full wedding. If I don't distinguish the difference then, for sure, I'm going to have brides saying they want the cheap option for their WEDDING. I want to use elopements to fill in weekday slots, that's all. Weekends will be exclusively retained for full wedding events. Thanks again for the input. It's very helpful.
Yeah, I was hoping to get across that I think $400 is too cheap (even for the venue I was talking about which is bare bones) I was more talking about the branding of "Fun for Four"

You'd be amazed at how many people get upset with me, all because I don't want to rent it out (on prime weekends) for $250.

Yup. It's amazing. These People want to put parties together, and spend as little as they possibly can. Up here you can't even get a terrible looking VFW for $250. Even those places want $600 to $1,100 in 2022.

I will add that there are a few catering halls up here that will tell clients "You can have our room for FREE if you host an event with 100 guests, and spend $49 per person on the food!"

It's great that you're not accepting those potential clients who want to book your venue for $250. You have a business to run and accepting events paying $250 to book your venue won't get the bills paid. Once the word is out there that someone can book your venue for $250 nobody will feel your venue is worth spending more than that. Let those people look elsewhere. They will find a place that will accept their $250 or close to that price.
