the ots upgrade is done.
autobeatmixing...karaoke.....and video componants now available.

next countdown is for free beer.

LOL - This makes me remember that many years ago, some friends of mine had a progressive-jazz/rock fusion band and they named themselves "Free Beer". They kept that name for a few weeks until they realized that no bar was going to hire them with that name.....(Gee, I wonder why :D).

I was soooooooooooooo excited yesterday when i got the news about the ots upgrade.
Now they tell me i have to pay $750 if i want to upgrade to pro and karaoke.

apparently, i made the mistake of simply increasing the number of workstations rather than buying new licenses. when i "increased quantity", i had no idea i was not buying a new license. I did receive a discount off of 2 and 3 of around $35.

So, for the $35 discount, it will cost me about $470 more to upgrade.

thanks J.

FYI,
OTS sent me a fair solution to the problem. I have upgraded to pro with karaoke.

However,
in the midst of the challenge yesterday, i am now a licensed vdj user. I will be giving an unbiased side by side comparison of beat matching and karaoke after i have learned vdj and the new ots features.
It will take a while as it would not be a fair comparison since i've used ots for so long.

Hey all!
Thanks Basic for the invite... My first post here! Yet I know many of you from other sites....

I see Jay's still pushing VDJ... ;)

FYI, Ots just this morning posted the latest release "With Demo"...
Ots_Adam Today, 08:24 AM

Group: Ots Staff

Ots Corp is pleased to inform that we just made available OtsDJ 1.75.006, which is a unified full version and demo release.

A number of issues have also been resolved, including:

- UI problems with single-core processor machines.
- Text ticker peculiarities when using some special characters.
- Global BPM display when in ABM maintain tempo mode.
- Other minor miscellaneous improvements.

Ots Studio has also been updated and contains a work around that allows it to function correctly despite a particular bug present with some layer 3 encoders (most users will not notice any difference here, especially if you are using a standard Lame distribution).

We would strongly recommend everyone download this version, as this is the version we are now officially supporting.

We also particularly draw your attention to the release of the demo for 1.75. If you have non-Ots associates in the industry, or friends who are interested in cutting-edge technology, now is the time to spread the word! Just send them to http://OtsDJ.com

Ots Corp thanks you for your continued support

Enjoy,
Adam

Soooo.... I guess the skeptics can now download a copy themselves, and give it a trial run, and post the quality feedback in comparison to their own product of choice...

C'mon Jay... Give it a try, and tell me the video quality doesn't exceed that of Virtual.... No hard feelings either way, I promise!

And for the record, some might see bug fixes in the quote above, but normally, Ots is bug free.... Due to the length of time to accomplish the AutoBeatMix release, there was a load of pressure to get this release out by the public, and a date was set. Because of this fixed timeframe, things were missed, and skipped to make the window. Not the way to do business IMO, but the general populous thinks otherwise. Good one for Ots, that they will not do another concrete window, and it's back to the quality standards we as Ots users have become accustom to!

Hey all!

Nah. Software is just like any other piece of equipment. We ALL have our personal preferences and we ALL think our choice is the best. :sqwink:

I don't do video, but I will play around with the music side just to be fair.

I totally understand your desire for a total look & feel Jay.... No issues there.
What really matters is what we present to the guests however, not to ourselves. ;) I think that, we understand! Quality output! Choice, and comfort is also a must to output properly, that I will not deny.
I could never get comfortable with VDJ as much as I tried while looking for a video solution.... Perhaps because I am so comfortable with my Ots.

Cheers Jay!

I'm donwloading the trial right now.

What we really need is for one of our NON-PC based jocks to download trials of all the various software, rip a handfull of discs, play around, and give us their unbiased opinion on each one from a beginner's standpoint.

Volunteers?

I waiting to hear from NON OTS supporters about how OTS works. So far I believe there are only biased opinions of the product, simply because all of the people who have encountered the update have been some of OTS's biggest supporters.

I don't want to hear that other programs have changeable skins, controller support, etc.. Simply compare the features that BOTH products have. BTW, the OTS mixing takes some time to get correct and ABM is NOT going to work out of the box.

Antoher prerequisite of an unbiased review. No controllers, just simple point and click like most PC DJs do.
