The reason I ask is that company I work for owns MySpace..... not sure if it is all, or just a big chunk.

I know many people use it for marketing their business.

In our OWN newscasts, we have a story that mentions Twitter or Facebook just about every single day, in multiple newscasts. I can't tell you the last time we mentioned MySpace. Many, many months ago, I would guess.

Myspace really is only good for musicians now, because they have the option to upload things to it and let's people hear their music. I find many new things to listen too on Myspace. But as far as a marketing / social network tool, it's dead.

Twitter and Facebook are the present / future for social network, one reason is because they work hand in hand. Myspace is way to locked into their own content (ie, not able to update your status through twitter). Facebook jumped on this early. When I can just go to Twitter and update the status on Facebook as well, that is big for me.

I cannot stand MySpace. Once you spend sometime on Facebook you realize how haphazardly MySpace is put together. The site feels like a 15 year old put it together in his spare time. Then on to the profile customization, you got people who aren't web developers and thus don't know any better that have 3 songs, and 10 videos auto-starting on page load; from a usability standpoint MySpace should cap the number of embeds allowed on any one page, or make their own in house media embedder that doesn't allow multiple auto starts

Anyway enough of my ranting..As my friend's kids would say -- MySpace sooooooo 2005! :D

MySpace has definately been dropping in popularity lately. It's more of a wannabe page building site than anything else. Users amass as many "friends" as possible then abandon the site. :D

It reminds me of the old Geocities pagebuilder. Anyone else remember that? ;)

thats why I will only accept Artists, bands, Dj's and any so called normal users I screen them before adding and if they aint up to what is accepted then I deny adding them

there are so many around and if you know where to get the software scripts you can make your own..... isnt that right Big Dan :)

Myspace is a good place for my step granddaughter to get in trouble. She was caught last year saying she was 18 (she was 12) and was giving out her cell phone number. Had all that taken away, banned from the computer, etc. Finally gets them back after 3/4 of a year and does the same damn stuff all over again. Dad found nude pics from a 19 year old guy sent to her over her phone.

Moral is, watch your kids online.

I have to agree with Dan FB is much better put together than MS. From my experience I found MS hard to navigate and for the most part it's bands and musicians wusing it like a homepage...which it is geat for.

I think for people in our business FB is much more useful in reaching the people you want to reach. I wouldn't say MS is dead but as far as the average user is concerned most have moved on to FB as thier form on social networking.
